So, I have recently made a couple of threads on this board basically asking "If the xbox one is for me"

I've decided to purchase it, but some things have been itching at my brain before i take the leap and I was wondering if anyone has any information about it.

1. Any news/hints of a 1tb version releasing this year?

2. Will the current w8 versions be any different than the future w10 versions? or is it just a simple update?

3. Any news/hints of a new bundle? Other than the borderlands one. I have no interest in the Assassins Creed games.

4. Any deals going around right now that I should look into?

If not, I was going to pick this up: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Xbox-One-Console-with-Your-Choice-of-40-TV/35024935

It's $720 for xbox MCC bundle, and a 50 inch tv. What do you think?

Taking in consideration that the console accepts external HDDs I seriously doubt, unless it´s a special edition ( like the COD AW ) there will be a larger capacity model anytime soon.

1-Other than some left over COD bundles, no other 1TB models announced AFAIK.

2-My guess is everything will be done via a software update, but it is just pure speculation on my part, nothing confirmed afaik.

3-Nothing announced so far for this year, though I suspect there might be one for Halo 5, or perhaps the new Tomb Raider. I did not know there was an X1 borderlands bundle announced .

It's $720 for xbox MCC bundle, and a 50 inch tv. What do you think?

There are no hints on Xbone bundles YET...but they will be announced in a few months when E3 starts up. Rest assured they are coming, of that I have no doubt. As I showed you in the other thread, really cool and sweet Xbone's are coming like the upcoming Halo 5 bundle.

Regarding that Link: It's either broken, not complete, or perhaps you misread the inches? What is in the link is the 40 inch SCEPTRE X405BV-FHDR. That's a 40 inch HDTV, not a 50 inch, and furthermore that TV (SCEPTRE X405BV-FHDR) was $250 a month ago (at the highest price that budget HDTV should be no more than $300) because it's a budget HDTV that is at least a year old. The Xbone was $330 with a $50 giftcard just last month. That's $580, that bundled deal is terrible on pricing...and that HDTV isn't that great. It's the minimum 60Hz refresh rate...in 2015, I would NEVER opt to buy a 60hz HDTV. Companies make them to pinch pennies and hope consumers don't know the difference. Some never do, they watch dramas on TV, the news, and don't watch action movies or play videogames. You are in a gaming forum, so gaming you do which means 60hz is not for you. In fact, I never have bought a 60hz budget HDTV and I've been HDTV owner since the original Xbox/PS2/GC days. As far as reviews go on that model, they say it's decent enough for the price but the TV has Wonky color issues. Overall contrast and shadow detail leave plenty to be desired.

Of course, budget TV Sceptre does make a 50inch model: The "Sceptre X505BV-FMQR 50" 1080p 60Hz LED HDTV" The problem is that HDTV is also only the minimum 60Hz and it's $349. $349+ $349 = $700. You are better off buying these things separately, although I would avoid buying this HDTV at 60hz considering you are actually a gamer at all costs.

Look for 120hz or 240hz and 1080p, don't just look for 1080p. The Hz go higher than 240hz eve so don't settle for the minimum 60hz, but I felt your budget was a concern.

If you are intent on buying that budget 50 inch HDTV despite it's drawbacks, I just saved you $20 as that bundle is a ripoff when the HDTV is $350 and the Xbone is $350. You mentioned you were going to spend $720 when these products are $700 when bought separate at Walmart. Of course, the Xbone was a better deal only a month ago and I'm guessing if you wait a few months even better deals, bundles, and maybe even features will be announced at E3 2015 for Xbone.

Secondly, don't settle for a 720p HDTV that is 120hz either. That 40 inch budget HDTV and 50 inch budget HDTV are both 1080p, but they sport the bare minimum 60hz which is not good for fast images like action blu ray movies and including Video games.

Your best bet was to buy a good quality HDTV separately and avoid these bundles that are usually overpriced. I would buy an HDTV of high quality first and then buy the consoles I want after. My 600hz Panasonic Plasma in one room outperforms my Samsung 50 inch LED 240hz in the other room. For gamers, Plasma is awesome...but not as popular. If money is a huge concern, at least do the minimum of 120hz and 1080p.

@polishkid99:

I wouldn't worry about the internal size. Plug in a 3.5" external USB3 drive and get better performance. I have a 4TB plugged in right now. I think you can also take it with you and play your games without downloading at a friends house, but I haven't done it so can't confirm.

@SolidTy:

you can select a 50" instead of the 40" for the bundle. Thank you for all the information though, I'll stay away.

I covered the 50 inch as well after digging around in that link.

Check it out above, basically the 50inch is also 60hz and it is $350 right now which is better than the bundle $350 + $350 = $700.

You are welcome though and have a good one.

Yep I read it! What really caught my attention in your post was "Overall contrast and shadow detail leave plenty to be desired" - SolidTy

I have a budget TV in one of the rooms upstairs and the color is awful and literally irritating (especially with mario 3D world). I've always been a fan of the quality of TV's from Sony, I might pick up one of those for my basement. You seem pretty educated on the TV industry, how are Sony TV's holding up with the competition?

I never considered the color aspect, I thought it might of just been my cheap TV. Thanks for helping me over that hurdle to realization! haha

Sadly, people will experience a high quality HDTV they own for years and then opt to go mad cheaper with their next HDTV only to find they regret it later. They want the quality of their first HDTV but they want the prices of budget HDTVs offer. If only life worked that way. You find people do that with cars and other electronics as well. "My first car worked great although pricey but then I went with this other car cheaper manufacturer and I had nothing but problems over the years!"

What you mentioned about the awful color with your budget TV upstairs is something I would notice. However, there are people that don't care and for them that TV is great. It really depends how much you notice and care about details. I care a lot, others may not. :)

I have been over at friends houses though and they opt to watch a movie there and I never tell them, but sometimes the experience is aggravating. They opted to go with a cheap setup and the visuals are foggy and while they are used to it, I am not. I politely attend and keep quiet, but I notice all the time. I know other friends notice as well do but again, it all depends on you. It's strange how high quality stuff stops feeling like an upgrade and starts to feel like the standard. It is only when staying in a hotel room, stopping at a family reunion, or visiting a friends house do you notice a visual or aural degradation.

When I buy tech, I look towards the long haul, the big picture, the long view. I want something that will look great for years, and not only this year. If you like upgrading every year or two, buying cheap TVs sometimes ends up being more expensive.

Panasonic, Sony, and Samsung are still high quality HDTV manufacturers. If you can't afford the brand names, pay attention to the specs and read some reviews on the off brand if you are unsure. I love tech, sounds, and TVs, so I keep up that is true. :P
