I have all of those games.
BioShock is an amazing single-player experience and one of the best games I've played all year. Yes, enemies die for good once you kill them, no infinite re-spawn like Call of Duty. The story is linear, but there is some room for exploration but it's not emphasized to a large extent here. The game is not short, it will take you a real long time to beat it. Killing little sisters, or rescuing them, has a small effect on the overall story and results in different endings. The graphics are amazing and some of the best I've seen all year. It took me 30 hours to beat this, just about as long as it took Mass Effect.
Assassins Creed is a good game. It will get repeative after the first half of the game. It's really good, just wait for it to go down to $40.
Halo 3 is a pretty fun multiplayer game. I was sorely dissapointed with the single-player campaign and thought it was poorly designed. TONS of stupid backtracking through areas that you've already cleared. The AI in this game is mediorcre when compared to games like Call of Duty 4 and BioShock. The guns feel weak, IMO. The multiplayer is a lot of fun though.
Call of Duty 4 is another amazing game. Even though it's short, it defiantely warrants at least 3 play-thrus to get all the achievements and every second of it is just mind-blowingly awesome. The multiplayer is very, very cool too. I would recommend this without reservation.
Mass Effect is great game if you're looking for something other than a straight on FPS shooter. The combat is really fun and interesting, and the game warrants about 2 play-thrus. The space opera story truely feels epic and the overall quality is extremely high. It's an awesome single-player experience, but once you beat it I doubt you will want to go through it again right away.
Orange Box is the best value you can get dollar-for-dollar. Team Fortress 2 is the BEST multiplayer game I have ever played, and it also comes with Half Life, Half Life Episode 1, and Episode 2 which are also really exiciting awesome games within their own right.
