Can I detach the hard-drive from an XBOX 360 Elite, and then stick it on to the Arcade and have 120 GB more memory?

Also, will that make me lose all my save files?

that is assuming all your saves were on the elites HDD, not whatever you had attached to the arcade :P sorry if im stating the obvious haha
