Ok, so my warranty expires in january and my 360 is REALLY acting up, i mean it only plays games half the time and i was thinking of possibly making my 360 do RROD on purpose so it can get repaired fully, seeingthat only way MS will even look at me is if i have RROD let alone repair it for me. Is it a really stupid idea? how would i make my 360 RROD on purpose? thx in advance.

The RROD is 3 years warranty, Anything else is 1 year, If you are within your 1 year, You can call them and tell them your xbox is acting up and they'll repair it for you. IF you are past the 1 year warranty then well leaving your xbox on ALL the time in a confined space might kill it.

I'm in Canada as well and yes it is 3 years for everyone. As long as it's only RROD.

As for leaving your 360 on all day, That probably won't kill it. You have to keep it in a confined space. My 360 is on ALL the time so the only thing i could think of is to make sure it's like wrapped up in a blanket and in a box or something lol

The older 360's could of died easily though, Just leave it on for like a weekend and BAM! lol Thank god it's not that bad anymore.

If its coming up for your third year, then put a blanket over it or put it in a confined space and keep it on for long periods of time. Should help it RROD.

well there will be 3 red rings around the 4 ring things. they will be a solid red, and no matter how many times you unplug the console it will always be red. it happens when the hardeware fails, but this rarely happens now

one more thing, i was thinking of just lying and saying i got rrod, that way if they get it and they see somethins wrong with it they can maybe fix it without me running the risk of frying it and them sumhow knowing i did it on purpose and leaving me with a fried system. so if they wont fix it atleast i got a half workin 360.

thanks for the info... it's my first time to learn of such... the problems i hear about here in the Philippine are just melting of the DVD and the console itself... oh and there's one guy here who had the DVD + his Xbox 360 console melted at the same time....

ok, i have learned something for you :) well let's take care of our consoles and if it breaks... oh well, then buy a new one hehehe Xbox 360 is worth all the risk

Remove any disks from the tray. Turn the system upside down and cover with blanky. Leave it on andthe 360 will eventually kill itself!

I have had two rrod's and I am on my third sytem which is now an Elite. Both started acting just like you described. Freezing up a lot and such, then bam, three red rings.

That being said, I do not care how many I have to go through, I love the system and I am sticking with it. Everyone of my friends have lost a 360 and got a new one with out thinking about it.

I got mine from BestBuy with the warranty. Red ring at night, new sytem next day.

Okay, the way I got it the first time was through a power outage. The thing is if I turned it on and off 2 or 3 times, it wouldn't get the RROD and just turn on normally. It's like RROD 0.5. And what are the problems you're getting with your xbox 360? Because Microsoft customer service is pretty kind and they let plenty of things pass.

Okay, it wasn't a power outage but it was one of those switches under the gray panelled control thing that control the power in your house. I didn't even know what they did, and I flipped them all off while my 360 was on. So yeah, I sold that one because it got annoying having to turn it on and off 2 or 3 times before it worked. Haven't gotten RROD since, but I'm gonna have to try for it since mine is getting weird disc reading errors and it's past its one year manufacturers warranty.
