i don't mind paying for the live, but i never buy any DLC, i think it's a bit of a rip off (same with themes and pics and junk like that)

if you really love the game that has the DLC then yiu will buy it no matter what-sooner or later, but my thing about the thmes and pics i got my hitman pic and my batman layout 8) so i dont think ill be getting any more of those two, unless better versions of em come out :roll:

but my thing about XBL being free, i mean i pay 8 dollars a month thats cheap as hell! maybe other people see PSN beeing free and think Michrosoft will make theres free "why not make any money when you can make hella money"?

Gold members should get a better discount on DLC compared to silver.

i think people feel it sucks that after they bought the full game you gotta pay microsoft to play the online part of it.

Unfortunately people can't look ahead into the near future...I'd say mid 2008, then Sony will be charging for their online services. As for Live costing 50 dollars a year... yeah I can afford that, especially with the amount of hours I put into playing with people around the world. The only little nag that I do have, is the fact that the 360 is home to mostly shooters, I'd love there to be a few online multiplayer games....but I'm sure it will be coming.EnigmaticBeauty

Sony will make it's money through DLC and Microtranactions especially with Home coming out hopefully in 08.. again I for one hate that we haveto pay for XBL meanwhile our dashboards have fantastic Ads.. Ads that I shouldn't haveto watch since im a paying member.

Yes of course that is cheap but 360 fanboys will forever complain about this because the PS3 is free online. They don't realise that they have to splash out $500-600 dollors for the console in the first place. I have had many a debate about this.SIack3r

they cost $400 or $500 if you get the premium and you don't need to go buy the charge kit, wireless adapter and they all come with a harddrive and a new format player so its cheaper really, plus 50 bucks a year adds up, i wish it was more like sonys since they have dedicated servers for all their games, it runs wayyyy smoother and they dont have to pay 50 bucks just for a nice interface

Doesn't it more or less depend on the game? Well I mean games like Halo 3/ Call of Duty 4, you'll see lag maybe 1/75 games (estimate). But others have lag a lot more often.

My main beef with XBox Live is the fact that there is no "family package". Not that I have a family myself, but my brother-in-law (duh) does. He has to pay for 3 XBL accounts just so my niece, nephew & he can play online. I think that's a rip-off.

As for the ads, well, that's just part of the thing. Think about it this way, when you subscribe to a magazine (yes, those offline things) there are still ads in them. The ads help pay the people who work to bring you the service, not the service itself; that is what you, the consumer are paying for.

It would be nice if we got themes and gamer pics for free since we paid for the damn game! They could just put a code in the case so you can download them. That would probably keep the people who rent the games for getting them. I can understand the charge for new levels, weapons, cars, tracks, etc. (I agree, they should be cheaper though) But gamer pics and themes?! C'mon, it probably takes 20 minutes to slap those things together. I'm sure they don't devote an entire team to creating them.

Yeah always thought that was strange. You own the game, why not add the gamerpic of the game too. Already paid $60.

personally i'm happy paying $50 a year. it's like buying a box that has unlimited games in it, but it expire in a year. although i do think the downloadable content is a bit overpriced, especially themes and gamerpics, and it would be nice if gold members got a discount on it. comparing paying for xbox live and PSN members get it free, not that i have anything against the PS3, but have you used PSN? it's bad. i'd rather pay money for all the features xbox live gives us than use PSN for free.ctfvyrsgurbnorn

For one thing, the choice of games is a hundred times better than the PS3. I'll buy a PS3 next year sometime, when I get around to it.

Playstation Online is terrible though. A lot of times its just down. Remember when CoD4 was released and all the 360 owners were proclaiming they want to marry the game and the PS3 owners were exclaiming anger over the online being down for a few days haha. We pay so we can have what little quality we have. Besides if you can't afford $50 per year there is something terribly, terribly wrong with you....bum.Ket87

I think it should be free. What do we get from xbox live other than overpriced DLC? Oh we get a friends list, isn't that nice? Considering PC's and PS3's and Wii's do that for free. Oh and I hope one day they will allow companies to use their own servers so we don't have a terrible host advantage in every game we play over live. I'd rather have 1 more game a year then pay 50 dollars to play a bunch of games online I can play on my PC which will run them better anyways. I dunno just seems stupid to charge for their online service.highvolts12

don't forget free demos for just about every game with an upcoming release, even online demos (remember lost planet's). Also arcade which is great for kids or someone looking to play a classic game for 10 minutes or so. And the fact that you can access all of your friends list/recent players/ messages at ANY time during ANY game, while opening up personal voice chats with friends!

if everything carries a price, no one complains, just compare and contrast. since there are services that go for free (which can beneficial and lacking) people find it worthy to argue... nonsense :roll: one way or another yer paying for a piece of gear, service, membership or some other thing...

I have no problem paying for Xbox Live. It would be nice to have multiplayer free...but it is what it is and honestly, it's not a membership that breaks the bank. I appreciate the service for what it is and what I can do with it. I think it's pretty cool that we've come this far in the console market to have our own place to download demos, movies, arcade titles, tv shows, etc.... Having said all this, I have to admit that I am a casual gamer and with a wife and child, I don't have as much Xbox time as I would like...so perhaps the hardcore gamers out there would disagree with me. But for me, I enjoy Xbox Live and am curious to see how the console/online relationship progresses in the future.

Im not willing to put "Make XBL Free" as a Motto, nor do I understand why you go around reading everyoens Motto, but alas I can agree to it. It's either a Free XBL or a Ad-Less XBL.. If were paying Annually/Monthly etc why fill my dashboard with Toyota Ads?cleotis_max

This is a very good point. You pay for Xbox live but they still use it as billboards for companies to announce their products?

I don't mean the online as whole is down, but I'm always hearing of certain games always having problems with their online. Sorry I used poor wording. Guess inference and context are passe' these days.

If you got your 360 dor 300 dollars exactly.

It would be about another 200-300 for a PS3.

At 50 bucks you could buy about 8 years of Xbox Live.

Or you could pay another 300 and get crappy online.

Just ignore them.
