R6 is more of a tactical shooter so don't expect to run and gun where areas the Darkness will be more of the traditional run and gun shooter. I already have R6 and I'm picking up The Darkness later this week, but if I had to pick one I'd go R6 b/c it is a tested shooter and has hands down the best multilayer on XBOX Live (Sorry GEoW fan boys, but you know it is true).
Well they are two different games even though they both are FPS. So you should try the Rainbow 6 demo first and if you really like it you should get that. Then again if you dont really care for it you should get The Darkness the game looks really good.

Well Gears of War is a third person shooter and not as tactical as Rainbow six so you really cant compare the two accurately.
dont try the demo dor rainbow 6 big difference i dont like the darkness because its look i mean u get power or darkness by eating hearts what the heck is that but hey u neva knwoit could be fun. 2 me i like rainbow 6 cus it has anok community and its team based i dont like non team games were the whole team is quiet and no one sais a word but for me there are other games better coming out then the darkeness....... AGAIN I SAY MY OPINION!!
