Honestly, ten's dollar more in a year isn't a big difference - at least not to me. They'll put it to good use and continue to make Xbox Live even better. Honestly, I'm very happy with XBL, and prefer it a whole lot more than PSN.

As long as the service continues to be satisfactory as it is now (in my opinion), I don't mind. It seems that the cost of most things rise, i.e., gas, food, airfare, rent, mortgages, entertainment etc. What can ya do.

I Agree . I mean its Still cheaper when you think about it . i mean if you play wow you spend around 156 a year just on one game at least XBL has more than gaming Videos , TV, Demos . IDC its only a 10 buck raise big deal . if it was 20 then id get a little worried but 10 is fine . just as long as they don't make a habbit and Raise it again.

Difference is WoW's subscription goes to maintaining the servers and actually improving the game. Xbox Live goes to more advertisements, closing of development studios (Ensemble, FASA, etc.) and killing current development studios. (Rare, the developers who once brough us Donkey Kong Country, Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, etc. is now a Kinect-centric developer)

they upped the price because they know everyone would still pay for it. Was actually hoping with psn improving they'd LOWER the price but i guess those are just pipe dreams.

For WoW you pay for: server maintenance content patches Xbox live: pay to play online games pay to have access to other services xbox live has to offer like netflix access to demos earlier discounts on dlc a lot of people would argue that paying for xbox live is stupid cause you can play on a pc and get free online play there and the games can get much cheaper through steam and other online stores. its actually much cheaper to play wow than to play on an xbox if you actually think about it.. 60 bucks for xbl and 60 for each game you want plus any dlc for said game. if you buy xbox live and 2 games at full retail price your already over how much you'd pay to play wow for a year.. and not to be one sided or anything but WoW gets me more hooked to it than any game ive ever played on a console.. I do like xbox live don't get me wrong but saying its cheaper, is just dumb.. movies, tv shows, games, dlc.. none of that is free for the most part. It all adds up man.

\

How come everyone mentions netflix, yet it is free on PSN, the Wii, and Blueray players, DVD players, and it is even being built into t.v's now.

Netflix isn't free on PSN or Wii, you have to have a Netflix subscription still, and that isn't free. Get your facts straight.

You get that abiltiy with PSN, the wii, and BR players, DVD players, your computer, and internet capable T.V.'s for FREE. You don't pay a monthly fee to Sony, Nintendo, LG, HP, or any of the other manufactures to stream on their product, except for Microsoft. Of course I know you have to pay for a Netflix subscription.

Not that I am happy about a price increase. Lord knows I bashed it all week but one of the reasons is ESPN3. Another is the Kinect hub for the dashboard. Still even yet one more reason is the next update is going to improve the online communications.

They're adding a bunch of new features, so it's the most logical time for Microsoft to do what they've been wanting to do for ages.

Does it make any of you angry enough to stop paying? That's what I thought.

They will be adding ESPN LIVE around the time when Kinect launchs. I'm sure that added on costs, among other things.

I'm seriously considering defecting over to the PS3, as I am tired of paying to play online. I've been on Xbox live since the begining, so I figure I have spent over $400 on live. Between the fee, and my 360 making some loud noises, and getting quite a few disc read errors lately, I think it might be time to stop forking my $$$ over to M$, and give the PS3 a shot. I just hope I can live without ESPN3, Facebook, Netflix, Twitter, and Last F.M.

I can live with it, Microsoft just give the gamers new stuff; facebook, twitter, last.fm, and espn3.com are nice, but isnot the reason I got a xbox 360.

yeah, if im not mistaken I think you do have to have a espn subscriber above the cost of normal live. 10 bucks isn't that much, but I'm not really seeing anything more I'm getting out of it that justifies paying 10 dollars more a month.. besides the option to buy more services and use them on my xbox : / If the audio gets more impressive I wouldn't be so uptight about them charging more. but knowing microsoft they probably made the cheapest quallity of mics possible so when this fall update comes out their going to have to sell higher quallity mics and charge more for those as well..

I don't understand why they only raised the proce of 1 month, not 1 year. the people subscirbed and paying every month were already paying twice as much as those who got it anually

They raise these prices not for "updating the service" but to just pull more money out of our pockets. The XBL user-base is so large, the gain of this price hike is still going to exceed the loss for people not willing to pay for it. They know they can get away with it and still make money.

Think about it, we get NOTHING for free anymore on XBL. NOTHING. Every single item worth a crap on XBL they charge you and prices are slowly going up. How many games are being released at the 400 MSP price point now? Just a handful a year? Everything is now 800-1200 MSP now.

They are just testing the waters, watching what we pay for, then slowly raising the prices to accomidate the trend. Just look at oil and cable companies.

I mean we are going to be paying $60 a year for a "service", paying $60 for every game, $15 for arcade games, and $5 for digital avatar clothing. It's insane how much of a mega cash flow for MS this has become, and they know it. It low cost, high yeild crap they make the money off of.

This corporation isn't about the gamers, its bout the bottom line. You guys seem to forget the only reason why MS even got into the gaming market was to prevent Sony from possibly being a threat to them in the PC market at all costs, even if they took a loss.

They never were here for us, they are there for the shareholders.

Annoyingly those features are often exclusive to the U.S - Is the price increase happening in every country? Also - they're expanding into Russia etc. in Oct/Nov so maybe an increased fee will be used to maintain a larger server...

I agree. I never paid full price. only $30. but the point is why are they increasing. The price hike could possible mean no more $30-$40 sales. $50 might be the new sale price...we'll see

The best way to get around paying that high price is to get a free xbox live card at http://www.rewards1.com/r_4r8r97y Its simple enough and you dont have to worry about MS overpricing.

When I first heard about the increase it pisd me off. However now that I've had time to think about it, I guess it doesn't bother me as much. Really it's the first increase since Live has been around and lord knows they've added a lot of features. It doesn't hurt that Time Warner has finally agreed with ESPN to carry ESPN3, so that will be a nice feature built in.

It also doesn't hurt that I just picked up 2 -12 month Live Gold cards for $29.99 each at a local electronics store here today. I'm good for 2 more years. :)

I still think Microsoft should have lowered the price not raised it. It's going to cost them some customers for sure. Not a really smart business decision in my opinion, but hey Steve Balmer never asked me first.

How dare you say that! Wash out your tongue friend! :P. No seriously though as valid as this sounds, Microsoft do care about their customers, i received a free copy of Alan Wake when i bought the Xbox 360 Slim on the first day it came out (was the first to buy it). The guy was from the Microsoft AU group, see they do care :D.

But yes i don't mind paying extra for such an awesome service. And Australia didn't get a rise on Xbox Live prices, which is all good.

Didn't they say that up until November 1st it would be $39.99? All I'm seeing is $49.99 on Xbox.com, Xbox 360 and the price even went up on Amazon. It's usually always been around $35 on Amazon, now it's back to normal price.
