Got a question for you guys:

Now that the 360 has the Games on Demand feature, I'm consistently finding myself deleting old crap off my xbox that I never use, but I've finally reached a point where I've filled up my hard drive with stuff I actually want to keep. I've got Burnout Paradise and Halo installed right now, taking up a good 4GBish of space, and forget installing my games anymore (I usually only keep the current game that I'm playing installed, but I can't even do that). I've got a bunch of TV shows I'd like to keep, along with a bunch of Arcade Games that I absolutely love.

I know the natural answer here is to just buy another Hard Drive, and I'd do that without hesitation if that meant it would simply increase my storage space, but do I have to transfer my gamertag onto the Hard Drive I'd like to currently use everytime? Aren't there other problems like keeping the data consistent? Is there any way to corrupt the data?

How many of you out there regularly use more than one Hard Drive, and is it a serious hassle? Because I really don't want to drop a ridiculous amount of money on a new hard drive to find out it's an absolute b*tch to deal with while gaming.

Once you buy something it's always yours. You could delete things you don't play that often and redownload it for free whenever you do. But that's alot of work.

buy a bigger hard drive and recover your profile on the new hardrive. then you can get all the games you purchased for free. the only thing you will lose is your saved game data. im not 100% sure but i think you can get a memory card to transfer the game data

I would just get the 120 gig if you can. I was hesitant as well, but once I got the HD, it was well worth the cost. So much extra space with plenty to spare

Two things:

1) If you're going to get a 120gb hdd, get it off amazon.com. They have used ones for $80

2) If you don't want another hard drive, get this: http://us.codejunkies.com/Products/XB360-MAX-Memory-4GB___EF000778.aspx

That plus a 16GB micro sd card would be more than enough space

Well I find it being cheaper to actually just go buy the game in Gamestop, Gamecrazy, etc. because it actually is cheaper. Vegas 2 on GOD is 29.99 and I found it in a store for 24.99. Not much difference but you could buy something else with the extra 5$ you saved.

Swapping hard drives shouldn't be a problem. If you don't want to move your gamertag from hard drive to hard drive you can just put it on a memory unit. I keep mine there anyway so I can play on my account at friends' houses. Of course, unless your HDD is 120GB (and if you've manged to fill that up then wow) then you could just upgrade. New HDDs come with transfer cables to move ALL of your data (including game saves, whoever said you lose those doesn't know what they're talking about), and if you get a used one you can request a cable from Microsoft's website for free. Just be aware that transferring all that data is gonna eat a lot of time. It took about 80 minutes to get about 16GB of data onto my new hard drive this way. I would pass on Games on Demand too, by the way. Physical discs a) can be found cheaper used than Microsoft is selling it for online, b) can be traded in when you're done with 'em, and c) don't take up gigs on your HDD.

I notice a lot of hate towards Games on Demand haha, I understand they can be found cheaper. I chose to pay the little extra for the convenience of not having to leave my apartment to go buy it, or wait a week to have it arrive in the mail. The only drawback in my opinion is forgoing the extra space on the hard drive (trading them in gives you back almost nothing, so the replay value on ANY game is worth the $4.00 gamestop is going to give me, and any game that will net me more than that I'm going to likely keep because it's a great game. I also fundamentally have something against used games as a game developer myself, but that's another argument).

I guess the 120GB HD is definintely worth it from these comments, I think I'm going to grab one off Amazon. Thanks for the help!

I wish they did it like Steam does (maybe they do and I've just never seen it) where there's a list of everything you own and you can easily go to each game and download it if you don't have it installed.

You can. You have to go to xbox.com. Under "My Account" is an option for "Purchase History". Your purchase history has a list of everything you've bought from Xbox Live with an option to add it to your Queue again.

But like many here have already said, buying the 120 gig HDD is the best way to do it. Buy it new, it comes with a transfer cable. It's easy. There's nothing to be worried about. There are a few minor catches though. It won't transfer Original Xbox gamesaves, and not all music you burned to the HDD from a CD-R. You would also have to do a "license transfer" of all your DLC if you want to play it OFFLINE. If you're always connected online, you'll have no problems. License Transfer can be found HERE if you need it.

I couldn't agree more. When you buy games on demand you don't even really own them.
