Maybe that's a good thing for people who are actually scared of this series. Besides, its always the "fanbase" that gets disappointed if a game series gets a little change. They need to grow up.nelfer320Thanks for making so much sense on that. i guess i need to grow up when one of my favorite games has turned to killing some random infected non zombie people in africa from killing zombies. its not RE anymore, even the Developer knows that. he won't even play it.
Old Resident Evil games where about Conserving ammo, New RE games are all about Depleting your ammo. Big Change.ZombiezLovePie
Old Resident Evil games where about Conserving ammo, New RE games are all about Depleting your ammo. Big Change.ZombiezLovePieI totally agree with your statement. I believe the Resident Evil series has become more action than horror. I have played Resident Evil since it was first released back on PC and have played almost every RE game since then (except for the handheld games and online games). After RE4 was released, it appears that the genre of Resident Evil was going to change. When you are no longer killing zombies, it was a clear sign that the series was going to change. I was kind of bummed that the new RE games are turning into games with more action as opposed to more horror. However, I do think the Resident Evil series needed to change. How many times can you keep making survival horror games without adding anything new to make them better? In conclusion, I think you have to view this as Capcom making Resident Evil games better rather than making the next great horror game. In my opinion, Dead Space is a much better horror game than RE5 will be; even though RE5 hasn't been released. The older Resident Evil games are more memorable to me, but I am excited and interested in the newer Resident Evil titles. I think maybe some hardcore fans are disappointed with the new direction for Resident Evil, but RE4 is arguably the best game in the series because of the change from horror to action.
That's not RE, that's a sellout bro.ZombiezLovePie
I wouldn't go as far as to say it's a sellout, but i am a HARDCORE Resident Evil fan... beat RE1, RE1 Director's Cut, RE2, RE3: Nemesis, RE: Code Veronica(my 2nd favorite in the series, storywise), RE 1 GameCube REMAKE(best game i've ever played, beat it like 20x), and RE4...
Resident Evil 4 was the end of the Resident Evil Survival Horror series... it became an Action Horror game... Capcom wanted to sell more copies of the game since people didn't like the control scheme so they made it easier for noobs to jump into Resident Evil...
I can't stand walking into a gamestop/local game store and here people talk about how crappy the Resident Evil titles were before RE4... I snap and go beserk on these losers because people just don't like games where you're not supposed to shoot and kill EVERY enemy. Resident Evil was all about conserving your ammo for the big B.O.W.s towards the end of the game and only using your weapons to get out of tight spots...
With Resident Evil 4, you got ammo/gold for killing zombies/undead, what is this ghouls n' ghost??? I'm not knocking the game, I beat it and enjoyed the survival mode/time attackstuff but it's the only Resident Evil I felt wasn't tough(try RE:Zero if you want tough)... it had some scary moments, but nothing of the likes of the previous games... AWESOME action game, but it was not Resident Evil.
I hope with Resident Evil 5 there's a difficulty level where you can play the game WITHOUT the red-crosshair because that makes the game too easy for me... I want to play it without the help. I can see it's already going to be a big action storyline along the lines of Gears2/Halo3 since they're adding co-op play to the series(wouldn't be the first time; Zero made you use two characters). The game is going to be way better than 4 since it's going to continue the storyline from where Code Veronica left off(true RE fans know what I'm talking about) but add the elements/plots introduced in RE4. I hope Claire(she's going to be in RE: Degeneration, The RE 3D movie), Jill(last seen in Umbrella Chronicles & the end of RE3), and Barry(last seen in RE3) make appearances as well.
Capcom has done no wrong this year with all their releases on XBLA, so can't wait for hardcopies of Street Fighter IV and Resident Evil 5 in my hands. What genre is Resident Evil 5, by the looks of it and my experience with all the Resident Evil titles, I'd say: Action Horror.
I loved RE4 and RE5 looks absolutley sick. who cares if it's light or dark out? You still get to pop numerous zombie heads off with shotguns.Dawq902
it's that mentality that made it into an action game... I hope Capcom remembers the Resident Evil vets and brings back some of the puzzles from the classic games to keep players on their toes instead of these "guitar hero" button mash action-sequences...
