If you finish the game you can go back and play story mode aseither Chris or Sheva but there will always be two of you. I dont think you can play as Chris or Shevaalone if thats what your asking?

You can play the Mercenaries mode as just Sheva though

Sheva is hot and holds her own in the game at first I thought she was going to be a liability.

When you complete the game you will be able to play the story as sheva but chris will still be with you, theres no way to get rid of him. Besides you need him in the early chapters of the game to assist jump sheva across to another building.

Mercinaries mode mode can be done in solo or duo .

You can play as Sheva after you beat the game once, she won't have a different story though, if that's what you are implying.
