Really Xbox? REALLY?

Well, here's my story.

My xbox had gotten the Open Tray Error about 2 weeks ago.

It worked just the day before, I wondered.

I had Called Xbox support, they said I Needed a repair.

I had no Warranty, so I youtubed how to open my xbox.

I Didnt have the right screwdrivers. so I Ebayed them got them in 5 days.

So I finally got my screwdrivers. opened my Xbox and took my DVD drive out to fix the laser.

So I saw on the internet that the laser was out of place, so I put it in the right position.

I Put my Xbox back together, turned it on, put the game in......

IT DIDNT WORK.

I opened up my xbox again, where I found I made cracks in the case And did all the fixes the internet had to offer.

ALL OF THEM DIDNT WORK.

By the time I had figured out I need a new DVD drive, I had opened my xbox 3 times.

I bought one off Ebay.

IT TOOK ANOTHER FIVE DAYS TO GET IT.

I PUT IT INSIDE THE XBOX FOR THE OTHER DVD DRIVE.

IT DIDNT WORK.(I Had put the face in it)

By that time I called Xbox support and THEY DIDNT DO CRAP. All he said was I'm sorry, since you modified your xbox I can't help you.

HE SAID I HAD TO HAVE TAKEN THE OPTION TO SPEND 100$ ON FIXING IT.(Really Microsoft?)

SO THEN I LOOKED UP ON THE INTERNET HOW TO SWAP DVD DRIVES.

I HAD TO PUT A DIFFERENT MOTHERBOARD IN THERE.

So THEN I HAD TO OPEN UP MY XBOX AGAIN.

When I was opening it I ended up making I gash on my finger to the bone.

So when I swapped The motherboard IT FINALLY WORKED.(AFTER I PUT IT TOGETHER 5 TIMES)

THANKS XBOX JUST, THANKS.

Now I'm sitting here with a gash on my finger that bled all over my xbox, haven't played in 2 weeks, and ticked off.

I HAVE LITTERALLY PUT MY BLOOD, SWEAT AND TEARS ON THIS XBOX.

HOW TICKED OFF WOULD YOU HAVE BEEN?

(I'm not posting this to get flamed, like "aww cry little baby" I just posted this TO SEE WHAT THIS XBOX AND MICROSOFT PUT ME THROUGH.)

Id fail him.. What composition teacher would allow all those caps? Id fail him, or make him retype it and dock his grade. ANYWAY :p I probably would of just bought a new xbox. Mines an old one without an HDMI output and that makes me sad :(SLUSHiNaToR

because you lost my belief when it started to boil down into 'I put my blood, sweat and tears into this Xbox 360":P

and the motherboard part really lost me too:shock:, actually. You spent money you could have easily directed to a new Xbox.

If you have pics/documentation of your old parts, I'll gladly concede though.

If it were me I would have paid someone to do it for me - that stuff is way too complicated for my liking. I went through a similar scenario when I was putting together a PC for the first time - but to disassemble and repair an Xbox is about a million times more complex.

That you succeeded on your first endeaver is nothing short of amazing imo. Give yourself a pat on the back for doing something that is next to impossible.

I hate to say this but the second you "youtubed" and started to take your xbox apart you lost me. I've had one of each console die on me so I feel your pain, but what I did was trade the broken PS3 in toward a new one, and buy an arcade 360 put add my old hard drive on it, so I didn't pay full price to replace either. I know a lot of people do self repair or modding, but to me as soon as you do that you are asking for grief you could avoid.albatrossdrums

Trust me I've thought of getting PS3 but I'm Just an Xbox fan And dont like buying newer stuff

It's pretty clearly written that if you modify the xbox they won't help you, as they have no reason too because you did it yourself.
