ok. i have had an XBOX 360 for a while now, and i know that half of the reason for buying a 360 is to play online. yesterday i went to a store and asked my dad if i could by the stuff to hook up live wirelessly. i told him how much it was gonna cost (around 150$) and he said that there was NO way he was gonna let me spend that much money so i can play more videogames. I need some reasons PLEASE so i can tell my dad to let me buy the things i need to go on XBOX Live.
I doubt that he will ever buy all that stuff for you because your dad sounds like the kind of person who doesn't give a crap about video games. So the only thing I can tell you is to save up or wait 'til your b-day/xmas...

On a more serious note, you will have to prove to your dad you are responsible enough to purchase everything yourself if you infact have all of the money you need.
I`m 42 and have never stopped working since I was 14. You`ll be all right, there are allways things you can do to make money.(yardwork, collect cans, etc)P.S. My parents wouldn`t even buy my clothes at that age, much less a 360.

I`m not talking about your own house. Do you pay rent, did you buy that 360? If the answer was no to either one of those questions then yes they do pay you.
Don't mess with the wireless junk for now. It's not necessary so just buy the LIVE subscription and save some money. Your dad might me more inclined to help you out if all you had to buy was the $60 subscription.
I hate it when people get paid for doing chores or getting good grades, I mean, those are just things people SHOULD be doing. but just convince him that if its your money, its your purchase.
Its a shame to even have to pay for Live. I mean really, we are paying for Friends list..... Stupid. We already pay for our internet monthly. No reason to pay for Live. It is not like Microsoft is using their own servers to host the games.... we are. Live is a ripoff, but a necessary ripoff sadly.
Tell him he can play Uno & Chessmaster against people from all over the world. Then, when hes getting into the swing of things introduce a little Rainbow 6, grown men love to play SWAT and he will enjoy being all tactical. A few months down the line you and your dad will be talking interweb speak, much to the bewilderment of other people:

Lets not be to harsh people. We all started playing at a young age. I think you'll have to save up yourself and get LIVE. You can try and explain to him that you won't be out causing trouble like some kids do and he'll always know where you are as you'll be upstairs on your xbox. Its a good way to socialise as well as long as you play with the right gamers.
that was terribly rude. and besides it would never work. they would take your inheritance and throw you in prison. and for what xbox live? xbox ie is great i spend more time with my friends with live than i ever have.

Come to think of it your really not missing out on all that much. all xbox live does is increase the longevity of your games, with multiplayer and such
