I haverecently experienced the so called red ring of death. The 3 red segments were lit up and the image and audio from my xbox 360 console completely stopped and the screen went black. however, i turned my console off and on and it is working fine now. what am i to expect? I have heard that when the red ring of death striked then the console is dead but if so, why is mine still working fine? any help would be greatly appreciated. cheers

Make sure everything in the back of the 360 is plugged in tight. If something in the back is loose it may show 3 rings. I've had it happen before, and it was just the power supply not plugged in properly. Otherwise I have no idea, bud.

Well keep in mind there's different types of red rings sequences on there, I believe mine only had 1 red ring on at I just had to take out the harddrive and put it back in and it was gone. When you get RROD it only happens when the top right and left, plus the bottom left light is lit but not the bottom right (correct me if I'm wrong). The cool thing about the 360 with is you can google (or go to xbox.com I think) which lights are lit and it'll give you step-by-step troubleshooting to see if you really have RROD or if it was just some little problems that you can fix.

I would send it into Microsoft and let them fix it but it takes awhile to get it back.

Please use the thread stickied at the top of this forum for the RRoD. Thanks!
