So I've had a 360 since launch. It red-ringed the first time on Gears of War launch day, and now it did it again the night before my most anticipated live arcade game release since i bought the thing... Castle Crashers.

Needless to say, I'm bummed. I'm providing my own box and sending it out tonight via UPS, from Ohio. Last time I had to send it in, it was about a 2 week turnaround. What's the average turnaround time these days? I hope it's faster but the guy on the phone said 2-3 weeks. BLEH!

If the send me the same unit back i'm gonna sell the damn thing and buy a new one after the price drop. Do they still offer 3 year warranties from date of purchase?

Unfortunately i can't answer your questions, but isn't it possible to purchase extra warranty after they repaired the thing?

Long story short

Lately MS repairs have been fairly quick (about 1-2 weeks at most). My XB360 just broke for the third time. They sent my console back STILL BROKEN. They said they voided the repair because my console had two serial numbers attached to it. But that's a different story.

Haha oh I'm sorry. I know I will get flamed for this but why not consider the PS3?? Just suggesting it. I've had it for over a year and have loved it every minute. Great games, great graphics, awesome online, and a TON to look forward too. Just my opinion. Hope this helps!

Dude this sucks. But, on a lighter note, you have over 2 months until Gears 2, so you should have it back by then.

:)

And yes, every console purchased after they announced the 3 year warranty is automatically given a 3 year warranty against the RROD, and a one year warranty against all other technical issues. I think you can extend it for 100$ though.
(The cash amount may not be correct for your region , as I live in Canada.)

I've dealt with the repair process more than my fair share (on my 4th XBOX 360) and would say that turn around time is a lot better than it was on my first repair, but still takes about 2 weeks. The three year warranty is still in effect but keep in mind it only covers the red ring of death. All other problems are covered by a one year warranty. And just so you know you get a 90 day warranty from the time they ship out your replacement console if you've already exceeded your original warranty.
