RedOctane Responds To GH2 Controller Malfunctions -- Possible Recall

An interesting problem has arisen since yesterday's release of Guitar Hero 2 for the 360. Many people are reporting that their whammy bar and/or Star Power activation featured in the 360 X-Plorer guitar are malfunctioning; stating that their whammy bars are unresponsive and that it is near-impossible to activate the Star Power feature.

An interstesting thing that has been discovered is that two variations of the guitar have been included in the retail games (as pictured below)

Basically if the 'phone-jack' on your controller is on the bottom (next to the power cord), as compared to being placed on the back edge of the guitar (next to the headset port), then the guitars are faulty. So to sum that up; if you have the guitar pictured on the bottom then you are likely experiencing problems. However if yours is on the top, you should be A-okay.

Target has the guitars listed as "Recall" under their computer system, however it's yet-to-be determined if that is a computer error of if they're just the first to take steps.

I have the bottom one, and the only complaint i have is that it seems to go into star power when I dont want it to. I thought it was just me jerking the controller, but now I wonder.

My brother and I both bought a copy and both of our guitars are the top version and work perfectly!!! Thank you Amazon.com!!!

I do have a question though, is the guitar by itself really $80??? If it is that is SOOOO stupid because I would just buy the game with it for $10 more!!! I thought the guitar was only $40 or something... I really wanted a second guitar but $80-$90 is just insane!!!

I definitely have the bad one. My whammy bar doesn't work at all. I was confused at first whether it was working or not, but then I went over to a friend's house who also has the game, and his definitely worked. You get a ripple effect on screen during long notes when it works. I had never seen the ripple effect prior to playing on my friend's guitar. So yes, I'm taking mine back to Best-Buy. And I'll look for the model starting with the 96* instead of 95 number, if what I hear on this forum is correct.
