Regarding a recent poll on how you got the "Red Ring of Death"

After a buddy of mine recently got his 4th RROD i started to wonder what the reason could be. I've been played hard on the same XBOX360 that i picked up the day they were released and haven't had any problems. My previously mentioned, unlucky friend is a casual gamer at best who games maybe a few hours a week. The only thing i was able to come up with is that I have my XBOX plugged into a big-ass monster power bar. I have read that people RROD's occured near or soon after power outages. I know that from an electronical point of view, power surges are bad but power shortages, such as "brownouts" are even worse. Can anybody confirm or deny my suspsions?

Power surges and brownouts can hurt electronics, but I've heard from a lot of sources that the system gets so hot inside that it softens up the soder used to connect the gpu and cpu to the boards to come loose and fail. It could be a number of things.Kakua_Omari

I've heard that too and a lot of people seem to think that is the reason. It's becaues of MS using cheap a@@ soder to save money
