Has there been any mention of how the game will deal with quitters? I'm fed up with it already, and if they don't change it in Gears 2, I won't even bother buying it.

I swear, developers need to make it so that if you quit once, you can't play for two weeks, if you quit twice, you can't play for a month and if you quit for a third time you can't play the game anymore. If that's not possible, then keep track of how many times someone quits, and once they reach a certain limit, erase all the achievements or leaderboard stats.

I should not be penalized because I am too good and the five year olds on the other team can't accept that people will be better than them.

there are a lot of problems with that idea. if someone gets disconnected on accident or their power gets goes out..they get get penelized. i dont think thats fair. i think that if someone quits out..the game continues but it doesnt have an affect on ur kill count or whatever. and people can join in after the round and stuff.. or they could make it 5 v 5 or 6v6 so if someone quits..it wont seem to dull..

Wow. You can look me in the eye and say that you have never, ever, ever quit on a game? not once? Not in your entire gaming career have you ever said "Boy, this game is getting long" and quit? Never? not once? Bull.

Being realistic might be better. Forfeiting some points or losing XP - ala CoD4

Well there should be a penalty but not like quitting and after 3 times your banned. I heard that if your palying a ranked match and someone quits, your kills dont add to your stats. Is that true? And if it is then they should take that out of Gears 2 because its not fair.

I'm pretty sure the game can tell if you accidentally get disconnected or if you quit/disconnected purposely. Socom 3 was able to do it. I used to get disconnected because my dad would restart the router without saying anything and I never had those affect my number of quits.

Legendaryscmt

Exactly.

I agree, it is irritating when people quit in the middle of a game, but all I'm going to say is deal with it some more. If you absolutely can't stand it, play private matches only with people you know won't quit. Personally I'd much rather have the option to quit out of matches if I feel inclined too simply because I don't want to be "forced" to have to play with annoying people that sing into the mic, obnoxious a-holes, cocky morons, and other worthless people that might be playing the game. Sure, the mute feature is great and I use it very often, but what fun is it to play in a room where you have to mute everyone on your team?

That's why i'm so annoyed at this. The quitter is rewarded while the person who stayed in the game in penalized. I know the people over at Epic aren't the brightest in the world, but I really would like to know who the bright one was that decided penalizing the people who didn't quit would be a good idea.

even if it can tell the difference, what would stop someone from just unplugging the network cable on the back of the 360 when they want to quit the game?

Oh, and to the guy that said "i'll disconnect my Xbox", they can still figure out if you did it purposely or not. Socom 3 did it, EA Sports does it with their games, or atleast they used to.

Because they ruin the game. It's not even about me not getting my stats, I have made about 9 accounts so getting stats doesn't bother me. What pisses me off is that games become 2 v 3's because three people couldn't accept the fact that they suck.

Usually people quit because they do bad. It's not going matter to them if the record doesn't count. You're not going to see someone get 16 kills in 6 rounds and then quit.

If anything, making the stats count would be better. I never got matched up in COD4 with people who quit because the stats counted regardless, so it was either take your 1 and 10 record, or stay and maybe improve it.

TheNuyorican

What's the point? Simple...Gears of War 2 is going to be one of the biggest, if not the biggest, games coming out this year that I've been anticipating since I finished the first Gears. Of course I'm going to buy it. The risk of playing with a bunch of stupid idiots on LIVE is a small one to take in order to enjoy what will probably be one of the best games of the year. The problem I have with muting the entire team is exactly what it is...you're muting your entire team. I don't know how many previews/interviews about this game you've seen, but all the ones I've seen stress that this is a CO-OPERATIVE shooter that RELIES on TEAM based gameplay. I don't know about you but I have a hard time believing a game based so strongly on teamwork would be fun playing by yourself:roll:

well that what u get when u have a 4v4 match. i never really got into gears that much because of that. always seems to be boring..id rather play matches with more people..

Then tell us how they the game can tell if I unplug my xbox or if i "accidentally" pulled the power plug out of the wall? I would never do that I'm just wondering how the game can tell that?

Because people actually communicate right? I guess i'm just the unlucky guy that always goes into rooms where nobody talks. The only time someone talks is when you take their kill.

Ha..teamwork. Nobody uses the mics for teamwork, only in clan battles it matters.

Please, clan battles? Forget those guys. Most of those retards are the same people I described earlier. Hence the reason I'm not part of a clan and I don't play in ranked matches. I strategize with my teammates all the time, and not just in Gears, but in all the multiplayer games I own. I guess it's like you say, you just don't play with the right people.

I completely agree. Those punishments were a bit unfair and exaggerated but its definitely on point.People who quit should get 1 hour penalty.

I think the only thing they need to change about quitters is that when people leave everything still counts;

because you can't control other player's actions.

and yes i feel your pain but your ideas are quite harsh

UR taking that a little far erasing achievments and getting erased off the leaderboard is a little overboard. they should do somethin but i don't know.

The penalty that the TC stated is pretty harsh. What if you had to go somewhere, and had to quit, or got disconnected??

Let the gamers deal with that and report. Some people will disconnect by accident, when someone quits on purpose for e.g. COD4 if I remember their GT I report them, especially if they're the host.

What you said just wouldn't work, people pay $50 or more depending where you live, and it would be ludicrous not being able to play.

well thats a lil harsh.

but anyways, they should do what EVERY other game does with quitters,

quitters get it counted as losing and the ones that didnt quit get it as a win (or sumone joins and takes his place and the game continues). and if the quitters are on your team... tuff **** :P

That would be good if people didnt have a life. People have to quit for various reasons. Go to work, go to school (Whos up that early anyway :O ), go out with friends or family.

Thats a little bit extreme there buddy. Just because some quits, doesn't mean they cant play the game for a month. Maybe just lose exp if they go that route for ranked matches. What if you lagged out? Then you wouldn't be able to play for 3 weeks or a month. Thats WAY over the line.

Your idea of people quitting is horrible. You should not get banned for quitting. People would stop playing all together and you would never find a ranked match ever. So yeah good luck with trying to get Epic to do that but they won't.

3 words...GET OVER IT...THERE IS NO RANK AND THEREFORE NO WAY TO PENALIZE.
