This is from Nov of last year, but it probably still rings true:
"And today we're pleased to cross a few games off the list of cancellation possibilities with both Fable 2 and Alan Wake confirming that they're still in development and far from being canceled. Both studios were quick to distance themselves from this nasty cancellation rumor, confirming their green light status on their respective forums."

I'm sure that there is some cliched business strategical reason for the silence, but MGS should at least let us know WHEN we can expect to see more news/info/screens/vids/demonstrations of the games that have already been announced (such as Alan Wake, Banjo 3, Halo Wars, etc) but have not been shown in along time or ever. That would give us something to look forward to. Right now its just silence and its still coming.
There was probably a mix up with the game. Maybe the publisher wasnt happy with something(s) so the devs had to revamp and change a lot of things around?
Im thinking maybe story was revamped or something.
I think enough gamers feel that it is time to have some type of info on Alan Wake. I know what you are thinking. Why does Remedy owe anyone anything right? Shouldnt they have the right to do whatever they like. What ever happened to the customer is always right attitude. A lot of gamers were not happy that AW was not at GDC. Come on - you gotta gimme some news if you want any of my cash.MartinWinthrop
It's going to appear at TGS 2008 which has now been dated for Oct. 9 - 13th. It sounds like there will be an either complete or nearly complete version of the game there. I'm guessing a pre-Christmas 2008 release.
Here is a quote and then a link talking about Alan Wake at TGS this year as well as a contest going on in the meantime to be "in" the game:
"To celebrate the launch of their new operating system, Microsoft is offering one lucky winner the opportunity to be digitally made-over and inserted (virtually of course) into a blockbuster game! Simply watch the Vista gaming demo and you could appear in the latest Remedy blockbuster, Alan Wake, a psychological action thriller with an intense cinematic look. Let the games begin with a trip to Finland to be digitally mastered into Alan Wake's world, then jet off to Tokyo to the 2008 Tokyo Games Show to be on the scene and on the screen!"
