Resident evil 5 offline co-op?

How do I get another player to play with me offline?

Start a game with one player, push start on the second controller

The offline co-op format sucks. Who thought that it would be a good idea to make two tiny independent screens? It not only ruins the resolution and makes the game ugly, it makes for tiny, crappy game play. I have a 40in. TV and I get 2 small screens that seem to be smaller than my old 20in. TV from my undergrad dorm years.

I didnt like the split screen at first either but once I get into the game I dont even notice it anymore. It would be better with bigger screens but I dont really mind it. Its a sweet game though I love it so far.
