Just keep it well ventilated and horizontal and dont shake it...and nothin will go wrong. Rings of death happen when you have your 360 all dusty, vertical, and it gets shaken a lot. Just take care of it.

Ya the actual problem with 360s isnt just the 360, its the people who own them. I mean your 360 has to be a rock if you dont want it to blow up in your face. MS designed it where you have to keep it still and not put anything on it or block the ventilation. The 360 is...a wuss. A really powerful wuss.

You don't have to keep it horizontal.

Actually, the default position the producers had for it was vertical to represent the coolness of "inhaling".

Just watch the video about it.

Yeh just take good care of it. Don't let there be a dust build up. I'm a neat freak, so I don't have dust problems. Many people keep their houses very dirt. Just dust and polish once a week. Most people clean their gaming areas once every 2 to 6 weeks. This is very bad for the 360. Ventilation is a another thing. People think that vetilation is keeping all areas around the 360 open. This is wrong. It's ok if your 360 is in an entertainment system. a cabinet is fine as long as it's open on one side. Mine is like this. To prevent overheating, I just get one of those cheap small fans you put on a desk to keep cool. If you follow these tips, your 360 should be fine.

Also, don't get paranoid by your 360's well being. I made a mistake by freaking every time the 360 got a spec of dust on it. Remember, only a small fraction of 360's are bound to have ring of death.

Wow, this is the most untrue statements I have seen.

I just got the 3 red rings and the cost to get it fixed is going to be $140.

Well ventilated = Yes, horizontal = yes, don't shake it = yes.  "nothin will go wrong" = WRONG.  What are your other suggestions boomshakalaka88 since your first set of common sense ones were incorrect?

Nope, the ring will take your life eventually. I haven't get one yet, but I know it is unavoidable. Death is everywhere.magicalclick
No, only a fraction of 360's are bound to have the Ring of Death.

No, only a fraction of 360's are bound to have the Ring of Death.

Is there an official fraction? Please, share. I must know!
Also, I hear that the newer X360's are less prone to overheating and such. Is this true?
