I know I can pay $5 and transfer most of the songs from the previous game, but how? Can someone tell me how? Also when are they releasing the "20 free songs for download" because I looked yesterday and couldn't find them?
The game exports the songs from the Rock Band disc on to your hard drive, and then when you play Rock Band 2, all of them are there. You have to have Rock Band, not just Rock Band 2.
As for the DLC you mention, I don't know, but it will be soon I would imagine.
EDIT: I just checked up on the Rock Band site, and it's coming "Later this fall".
Using the original game disk - go to options, the choose export tracks - then it prompts you to purchase the license which is 400 ms pts, then conitune from there - took my system about 10 minutes to transfer the original track.
All but 3 tracks are transferable - not sure of the other 2, but I know Metallica's One does not transfer.

i dont believe so but im still waiting for confirmation of that...im also planning to sell my RB#1 atfer i transfer the discs. But alas, i dont have RB2 so i cant confirm. However people on the RB2 forum stated you dont need the disc anymore.

You don't need it, guaranteed. For people who don't RB1 I tell them to buy RB2 bundle when it releases then just rent RB1 and pay the $5, then you're getting the game for ~$15 (depending on rental fees)

I saw it there, but the web site to go to wasn't up Sunday when I went to try it out. Had a message saying "Check back soon" or something to that effect.
