I've known about the pro mode for a while now, but I just thought about the fact that I might could use it to learn to play the guitar, does anybody know if there is a tutorial to teach you how in the game, if there is then I might just get the Squire and Rock Band 3 just to learn to play.

Despite whay they say, I honestly don't think Rock Band 3 is going to teach anyone how to play the guitar.

Yay! a Rock Band thread :P. I recently got the 102 buttoned Mustang and you can plug it in to your PC. I had to also get a USB to Midi lead and it came through the post today, but my PC won't work with it, but my PC isn't very good :(. It does work though because my brother could do it in his and it sounded like a real guitar with the VST midi sounds he had :). I wouldn't say it would completely teach you, but you can learn all about chords and power chords and what not. You could also learn a few songs by using tabs. If anything it will give you knowledge of the basics of the Guitar and will make you want to pick up a real Guitar too. Don't let this make you think you will be a very good player straight away on the real Guitar as the frets are slightly smaller on the Rock Band 3 Mustang, etc. but if you ask me, you can definately learn stuff by using it and it will probably give you more inspiration to pick the real thing up than starting on a real Guitar to begin with would, if you ask me, as it is easier :).

I will be getting the game for Christmas and I can't wait :D.

EDIT: if you wish to do this, get a decent priced USB to Midi lead. I got a very cheap one and while it is fine, there is just one problem... there is the slightest, SLIGHTEST delay between strumming the string and the midi sounds being picked up through your computer. I would say a decent one would be £30, so that would probably around $40-50 in America? not sure :P.

Oh and if you already know the songs in real life you can play the songs quite well on Pro Expert. I know The Hardest Button To Button by The White Stripes on my real Bass and I pretty much knew exactly what to play :D. The songs I never heard of were pretty difficult though, and I had to drop down to Pro Medium. I can confirm though that you can learn songs while not even on the Xbox 360 by using good tabs and you will have a much easier time to play it on the game on Expert :D. Keep in mind though that tabs can sometimes be wrong or on the real guitar may use a different fret for the same note, but in a different position.

Sorry if this post seems a bit of a mess, but I had a lot to say ;). Any further questions, feel free to let me know :).

Lol, that was a lot of smileys, but thanks for the help. If I do get it though, I'm thinking of getting the Squire since it is a real guitar and I could use it to play the game and could hook it up to an amp. If it really will help me get started then I'm all for it because trying to find lessons on the internet and get into them is tough, and real lessons are just to expensive.
