So I saw that they have silencer pads for the Rock Band drums at Gamestop for $20.

My question is, do they actually work?

They definately make the pads quieter but they also reduce the sensitivity by a lot. They made me miss way more notes and you have to hit the pads really hard to register. I dont recommend them.

Why do you want to silence your drums? That just seems a little dumb.

Have you ever played Rock Band before? You can barely hear your TV while playing drums they are so loud.

Yes I own Rock Band but the drums don't seem very loud to me. The idea of putting something on the pads also seems dumb for the fact that it takes away from the sensitivity.

Which is why I thought better to ask than to go out and buy right away.

I have a set of silencers, and they help quite a bit. They were purchased so I can play while my parents slept, but to no avail. They cut the sound produced by about 60%, so I can actually hear the music without cranking my television to max volume.

On a side note, you must be hitting the drums very lightly, because these things do not effect my sensitivity all that much.

I live in an apartment and the silencers are virtually a necessity. My neighbors can hear me banging on my Rock Band drum set and I don't want to piss them off. Plus it's a lot nicer when you don't have to hear the banging of your sticks hitting the plastic and can focus on the music.
