Which one's better? I don't play either, I was just always curious what the differences between the two are.

Not a dimes worth of difference in either one in my opinion. They are both basically the same so whichever one is cheaper or has songs you like better...
I think they are alot different actually. Well i haven't seen GH5 yet but usually the GH series is more cartoony, rock band tries to be realistic as possible. Rock band as more dlc, and its your preference of songs too. I prefer rock band

I agree with you a little bit. they don't need people to re-sing songs. that's why I hated Guitar Hero 2 a little bit. B.Y.O.B. from Rock Band 2, and Guitar Hero: World Tour, are different. I played BYOB on Rock Band 2, and then watched the video on Youtube. Then played the GH version, and it sounds so fake.
Rock Band because i HATE those remastered songs they sound like crap plus Rock Band gave the realistic feel and they came up with the band idea first hints to those guitar hero fanboys
