"I think the mission packs with the episodes are going to be pretty deep, offering another full-on adventure in this world," he told Edge. "I think we will be in a position to market them not a million miles away from the way the boxed game is marketed."

That pretty much says it all. It's a full on adventure just like the primary mission in the game. It's so big in fact that he says they'll be able to market it not unlike the way they plan to do with the full boxed version of the game.

"And if they like the episodes it will probably make sense to market them aggressively, and we want people to be there on that first day as much as is realistic. Our goal will be to fry those Xbox Live servers - we want to have as many people tune in at that moment as possible."

The downloadable content for GTA 4 on XBOX 360 is going to be massive. Look at the gap between the first episode of the exclusive content that will be releasing later this year, and the next episode which will be coming afterwards. It's almost a whole year after the first one. They're making a lot of content for them.

but is the downloadable content something they could have put in the game in the first place...? or is all this talk just about their plans to make it

It's too much content, there is already more than enough in the main game. If they were to add it to the full game, GTA 4 would release in 2009.

Last I heard the game would take somewhere around 100 hours to complete if you do everything. By my standards and I'm sure Rockstar's as well, that's more than enough for one game.

I sure am glad that game developers never lie... because that would make this news meaningless.

Perhaps this one will actually take 60-80 hours to do everything since they said 100. Haha.

Wish I could care. I won't be contributing to the "frying".

Why dont they just realease a bigger game if they have all this extra content. Microsoft will put a cap on them if they try to "fry the servers".

damn you guys are taking this way too literally. I bet it does "fry the servers" i mean even on big name game demo releases the servers slow down a LOT. With these gta content packs, i gurantee that there will be enough ppl buying it that first night to make the servers all slow.

Ill probably wait till i finish the game before i buy it though.

This might be possible. As certain games or demo's in the past have cause slow downs to the servers.

Could this be the first downloadable content to have it's own commercial on T.V.? 8)
