hey everyone! I got my fall break starting wed. and i'm looking for a good RPG to start. I'm mainly trying to decide between blue dragon and Eternal Sonata. I've heard mixed things about both and I'm just looking for some feedback on these 2 games. Thanks everyone!

either is fine in the limited rpg selection the 360 currently has - the future is looking better in the rpg world tho. for now, i prefer ES over BD - merely personal preference, but they are both good.

Eternal Sonata over Blue Dragon.

Eternal Sonata

Pro's:

Good story and characters

Great Art

Great musical score, with solid voice acting

Con's:

Characters tend to ramble on to long in heavy handed monologues.

Combat although functional, leaves much to be desired for the veteran RPG player.

Blue Dragon:

Pro:

Strong Gameplay with plenty of freedom and strategy.

Longer then Eternal Sonata

Decent music. I loved it but some seem to hate it.

Cons:

Bad Story

Bad Art

Bad Characters

Keep in mind that I actually own Eternal Sonata, I only played the Demo of blue dragon and a 2 day rental so my opinion is much more slanted towards Eternal Sonata. But after my 2 day rental I had no desire to pick up blue dragon for the 60 dollar price tag.

To comment on what Giff1988 said, he's pretty much right about Blue Dragon because I own it. I'm like the opposite of him or her. I own BD, but don't own ES. I say go with BD. As far as I know, it warrants a few play-thrus since there are items you can collect and achievements you can get practically only after you have good level characters. The story is weak like most people say I will admit so if you want an RPG that you will also remember after you're done, I'd say go for ES.

I'd also recommend ES. Blue Dragon has a terrible story, but the game itself isn't so bad. ES is great all around as far as I'm concerned.

Blue Dragon was hugely underrated. The story is very weak, but if you like the old-school of JRPGs (the first few Dragon Warrior games, the first few Final Fantasy games, etc), that's the vein in which this game goes. It's far from a 10/10, but I'd say an 8/10 is more accurate

Eternal Sonata has better graphics... I don't actually own it so I can't really comment... I'm mainly here because people were bashing on Blue Dragon and I like playing Devil's Advocate, particularly when BD isn't a bad game. I heard Eternal Sonata was short too.

So, BD is longer and more like an old-school RPG.
Eternal Sonata is short, better looking and is more of an action RPG/turn-based hybrid.

I have yet to purchase ES because I heard it was on the shorter side. I do own Blue Dragon though (bought upon release) and have put over 110 hours into it. Definately a fantastic game if you enjoy old school JRPG's. I will most definately be purchasing ES in the near future (looks like it cant be missed) Just need to stretch my dollar a bit.
