Theres JRPG's (Japanese Role-Playing Game) where you pretty much do nothing to shape the character and you simply move the character from one conversation to another, grind your characters level up near the end and then have a boss fight. Or theres western RPG's which give you more control over your characters actions and more interaction with the story, but sometimes the combat might not be as fun as what you'd find in a JRPG.
On the xbox 360 a good JRPG is Lost Odyssey, and two good western RPG's are Oblivion and Mass Effect.
(and dont get me wrong I like both kinds of RPG's)
Mass Effect and Lost Odyssey are great. There are two more RPG's coming out this week also. Tales of Vesperia and Infinite Undiscovery. Check out some gameplay videos.
Look into Mass Effect & Oblivion to hold you over until Fallout 3 & Fable 2 release. Rise Of The Argonauts is another good Action RPG coming up worth looking into as well.
