I have seen that they are making RPG's a little more often than they use to, and it seems to be a very addicting genre, i myself love this genre but why is it so addicting to everyone?sasuke2202usually is the depth in the game thats so addicting there is so many things u can focus on, that and the lvl cap is awesome aswell.. I know in disega 3 the lvl cap is 9000, that and the endgame is nice too.
Just leveling up, making powerful character(s), doing stuff, making an unstoppable team (in the case of thnigs like Pokemon.), getting new stuff (armor, weapons etc) It's just a very addictive genre.
Leveling up, looting, customizing gear and abilities are all reasons why I love rpgs. Also rpgs have more of a commitment to story then other genres (this is just a generalization of course since not all rpgs have great stories and many non-rpgs do).
I get a sense of immersion from RPGs that I don't really get from other genres. I like having huge open worlds to explore, I like customizing my character or weapons/armour etc, feeling really in control of my character and my story, if that makes sense. It's a form of escape for me I guess. Plus I just love that feeling of levelling up and becoming more and more powerful :D
Depends on the person. RPG gameplay can be addictive, but not for everyone. Just as somepeople get addicted to First person shooters, Or realtime strategy, or Massively Mulitplayer games, Shoot the ups, Sports, or Fighting games. There are lots of Videogame Genres. So people are going to like different ones and even become addicted to one kind.
Depends on the person. I like RPG games but not all RPG types. This is a great genre but not one I can become addicted to. Some people can but not me.
I think it is the reward system. Most RPGs have leveling systems. Throughout the whole game, the next level, the next armor upgrade, the next new attack/spell/whatever is never very far away. Not to mention you get random loot and experience points for finishing certain things. It keeps you playing.
If you are like me it's "just one more level, then I'm done," and after that "okay, just one more armor upgrade, then I'm done for real," but after that "now I'm so close to the next level, so just one more." :P
Though this doesn't necessarily apply to all RPGs.
what type of rpgs are you playing?? im looking for one with leveling ur char and skills and swords/armour/spells stuff like that.. possibly online play to to kill things with other players to get drops and stuff??Date_NightBorderlands has a great co-op. As long as you have a friend, you're set to go.

Pokemon is one of the best RPG's ever made. Too bad people can see further than "a childish tv show lolz gimme cod".
For the 360 there's Lost odyssey, a great rpg highly recommended by me :P

I definitely recommend Lost Odyssey as a highly polished, traditional RPG. I think it's a pretty good RPG to start off with as well if you're new to traditional RPG types. For FPS fans wanting an RPG experience, then Borderlands and Fallout/New Vegas are a great place to start as well. Best of both worlds! Please Log In to post.
