The Bitbag is reporting that "an unnamed person" has tipped them that the price will be dropped $50 to coincide with the release of GTA IV. Would it be a smart move? I'd say probably. The rumor is far from reliable in my mind but I figured it was at least worth mentioning. The guy reporting the rumor says, "It's interesting and I'm going to dig deep and find out if the rumor is true. Keep your pants in a bunch and don't lose any sleep."

Article found on The Bitbag using Megaton Report.

I guess this could effect us in the way the system wars lean; 360's seem as cheap as wii's these days (metaphorically speaking).

Oh wow this is deffinatly not a rumor,Just reading it sounds like something Microsoft would do.Smart Marketing plan. They will deffinatly sell more consoles and they will obviously bring up "GTAIV has download content on Xbox360 so you play the FULL game" yeah deffinatly sounds like something they would do,nice find!

Soon 360 will cost $50 if they keep dropping $50 every year.

sounds like a good idea. i know this game is a reason why people move up from the ps2/xbox1.

i bought my 360 in august07 was rocking a xbox 1 till then. always thought id wait as long as possible to save money on 2nd hand games and the console itself. then thought in august got a bonus from my work and thought well its out beginging of october i might as well get it now as i dont see it going down any more in the next month or so

was let down once it got pushed back to spring 08 but in all honesty ive managed to go through about 50 games since then buying then trading when sick of them or if i didnt like/play them. and once october hit, they been that many great new games i never regretted buying it.

i think if they drop the price wud be a good seller, as i know a few people who are thinking like i was that they would get a xbox360 or ps3 once gta iv was out. and knocking the price down more is only going to help make the decsiion for people.

i was going to get a ps3 me self, but the price compared to xbox and price of the games and to add by august last year they were games 2nd hand that been out a year or so and were hitting very cheap prices. thats what made my mind up for me. glad i got a xbox now like

I hope they do. It would make a lot of sense for Microsoft too. That way, people who don't have a next gen console yet would for sure buy a 360 because it would be like half the price of a ps3.

It sounds reasonable.
