RUMOUR: Gamespot's Jeff Gerstmann fired over Kane & Lynch review.

First of all, sorry Jeff for losing your job over this. Getting canned sucks in general, but losing it for this reason is even worse. Best of luck on finding a new job Jeff.

Gotta find it interesting that Eidos is upset over the average reviews its games are getting, and instead of trying to make the game better somehow or take the blame on themselves, they make threats to Gamespot to get them to fire a longtime staff member. That is severely underhanded and cowardly and pretty much sours me on the entire company.

At this point, I no longer care if Eidos publishes good games in the future. I have never been very interested in their games, but this means I won't be buying anything more from them. Even EA doesn't sink this low, far as we know anyway.

I mean that if publishers just put pressure on these review sites, causing their reviewers to fear losing their jobs for bad reviews, means that most reviews that we'd read are bogus and make the games seem better than they actually are.

Guys, just take a look at the K&L message board; it's gone to hell.

Also, take a look at the Player Reviews for K&L.

Just under 70 % of the player reviews have been rated 1.0's, and there are over 550 reviews.

Ah yeah, fair enough. I guess from now on we should be alert as to which game companies are heavily sponsoring the sites we visit so we know when they are being influenced.

As for Kane and Lynch trade in for Mass Effect, uh yeah man, big no brainer there. Mass Effect is awesome all around, even with some of its flaws. I beat it in 3 days of intense play and am now half way through a second play through.

Eidos is a garbage company that doesnt have any good games. The only average game they have is proably Hitmantrophylocoste

wow very bad , i imagine myself in his place getting fired because i was honest reviewing a game , damn its that why gamespot is good because they do honest reviews and dont take cheap bribes like most of the other sites .
