Saints Row 2 over GTA IV??

okay, maybe I'm the one off the reservation here, but I keep reading on these interwebs how people are comparing Saints Row 2 and GTA IV....Really?

I have even seen some people who are awaiting Saints Row with more anticipation than IV......Seriously?

I am not trying to dump on SR, but was I the only person who felt like it was at best a clone, and tease for GTA? Personally I have been a fan of GTA since numero uno, way back on the PS1. I feel it has gotten exponentially better since the first, and....okay okay I am a total GTA fanboy, there I said it. But I just could not get into Saints Row, for some reason I did not like it.

Am I alone????

I liked SR, not as much as the past GTA's but it was good

I however have all confidence in the fact that GTA 4 will be better then SR2.... SR 2 will be good, GTA 4 will be amazing, from what I've seen so far

Exactly what I was thinking, not saying SR2 is going to be bad, it just won't be as good as GTA IV

I would have to go with Saints Row 2 because although I've been a GTA fan since #1 it did not really give you any customization. I like the Grand Theft Auto games and I say GTAIV will be a great game but Saints Row 2 just beats GTAIV because of it's character customization, online multiplayer, and better story. xX-PopoviC-Xx

well i will agree with the customization, in fact, R* said it wont have a TON of customization in this game...non of that stupid workout stuff like last game....and yes, SA did have GREAT customization.........as far as multiplayer and better story though, GTA 4 WILL have multiplayer, it has been confirmed........and story....I have to disagree there, I personally loved the GTA story and thought the SR story line was just kind of flat.....kill him, now kill them, kk now them, repeat.

still a great game though, as I said, I'm not bashing......both must plays IMO.

I feel like a wicked minority saying this, but I recently purchased GTA: SA and so far enjoyed SR a lot more. I will admit I haven't played it a whole lot, but and I never thought I would say this, but SA is just TOO big. There's so much it is over whelming and therefore loses some of its fun. I liked playing SR because after a while I knew the city like I really lived there. Playing GTA I always need to use the map which can be kinda hard to read.

I'm not gonna make a final judgement til I finish SA, but so far I like SR better.

urgh saints row was a good play while waiting on gta iv but it does not compair. none of the characters where at all memorable, the customization was good if you like your character to look fat whatever they wear. storyline was just pfft. gta wins always

Now I'm not trying to bash the 360 or MS but imo Saints row is a crapped out watered down version of the GTA series, they just made it so more people would buy the 360 imo. And I for one am freakin tired of all these damn GTA clones. The only people that got that formula right are the makers of the GTA series.animefreeze

I don't think they had to make a game to make more people buy the 360. And if they did, they wouldn't use Saints Row. Also, the way you talk it sounds like you don't realize that GTA games have been on Xbox since GTA 3. The 360 doesn't need a GTA clone, becuase it has GTA.

Saints Row was really fun and I'm glad GTA IV will incorporate some features from SR to their game. Features like the cell phone (maybe to receive missions), free aim targeting, and way points. Both games will be definate purchases, same goes to Mercenaries 2 and Prototype.

Rockstar is King and GTA IV will be the game of the year. I can't wait to pick it up!

i have gta III, Vice City, San Andreas (on the ps2), and Saints Row on the 360. Of all of them San Andreas is the best by far. I loved that the game was huge in size and you could drive boats, cars ,motorcycles, bicycles, trains, or fly airplanes and helicopters. I have a feeling GTA IV is going to go back to the size of Vice City(which in my opinion is bad). It will still have motor cycles, cars, some boats, and helicopters, but they will probably take out bicycles, skydiving and all airplanes. They probably will take out the fast food places, haircuts, tattoos, and other things too. Hopefully they improve on the graphics, controls, and story. but it seems like from what ive seen they are taking things away.....

ON the OTHER hand, SR2 will be an improvement and will ADD things to the original game. However, Saints row is a newer series with more room for improvement. I may be wrong, but i just have the feeling that GTA IV will be a great game, but will not be any better than San andreas. and Saints row 2 will be a little better than Saints Row1.

I just want both games to come out so i can see how each of them look/play, but I really doubt SR2 will get a better score than GTAIV.....we'll just have to wait and see.

I think The Godfather has more intelligent party system than Saints Row.

Saints Row 1 has intelligent crew members, the lady homies shoot like they're silver sable or something.

You guys keep calling it a GTA clone... the only simillarity between the 2 is third person point of view and the ability to steal cars... and that low of a similarity could make any game a clone... how do you guys know GTA isn't a clone of Resident evil...? I mean in Resident Evil 1 you can take a gun and shoot at things... and in GTA you can take a gun and shoot things...? If the fact that GTA and Saints Row have so few similarities and it must be a clone... that is just silly and you who think it are also silly...

GTA is stealing this from Saints Row's free aim because everyone liked it...

So based on the facts... if anything... the new GTA, 4... is more of a clone of Saints Row 1 than Saints Row 1 was a clone of previous GTA titles...

You people need to get over yourselves... Saints Row is a game... and GTA is a game... I am looking forward to both and in my opinion Saints Row is better than previous GTA titles... I liked the story of Saints Row 1 more than any previous GTA game and the fact the we have known more info on Saints Row 2 which is being released this summer than we have known about GTA 4 which is being released in 2 months... So far for saints Row 2... they have told us everything accept the story... in GTA... all they have told us is the new GPS system, a free aim system, and a mission restart ability... no gameplay... all of those were in Saints Row so none of it is revolutionary... yet Saints Row 2 has already announced customizable female characters as well as male... dual weild... and tons of new online games... I mean even Saints Row 2 has screen shots of gameplay... GTA has nothing... they keep talking about how revolutionary the new camera and shooting system is... I want to see it... I love both equally, but it is hard for me to pick a game up when all I know is that it is a GTA game and previous games in the series were good... that is not always the deal...

All I know is that I plan to get both...

Saints Row was revolutionary. It's the model for future games of this type. Let's not forget The Godfather too.

Saints Row 2 will be for everyone. One can really apply his personality to his character. What I admire most is you can make your character to be Gay or Lesbian - very realistic. I do think the Gay deserves to be gangsters too and protect their hood. In

real life their are mob bosses that are Gay.

They're completely different. If you honestly think that black people talk the way they did in Saints Row, then you're retarded. GTA SA was much more realistic. They acutally had good writers and voice acters, unlike Saints Row, which was a bunch of white guys trying to sound black.

Grand Theft Auto was not a third person shooter...did I say that? No. It was an above view grahically bland sandbox game, which was available on the original Playstation, cause thats where I played it, cause I did not have a computer at the time. I never said it was a Playstation exclusive game.
