saying halos overrated

I would say the main thing for me that sets Halo apart being that IT IS really just another shooter - is the amazing atmosphere. Everytime I hear the Halo theme and look at the worlds I'll never physically see - it makes me zone out in awe...

well it depends, if you're talking about Halo: Combat Evolved, then it got the rating it deserved. But Halo 2, the fact that the MP is amazing and at the same time the SP is terrible short and lacks any sort of serious story movement, brought the rating down.. or should have. Halo 2 IS overrated to a certain extent. Still an incredible game nonetheless.Hells_Sentry

Also, it seems you try to force your opinion on people. You simply can't accept the fact that some people have a different opinion then you on a certain subject? That's weak. I don't like H3, I might say it's overrated sometime. But I never go tell people to stop playing that game because I think it's overrated.

Saying it's overrated is an opinion, and if they don't have any reason behind it then what you are saying is true, but for me, my friends all play(ed) it and always told me it was amazing, so I played through the campaign and played some MP at my friends house and I really did not like it, so that's my reasoning behind finding it overrated.

Why do you care anyway? Someone's opinion doesn't ( or shouldn't ) bother you, just as long you enjoy it, then keep enjoying the game. :P

Halo is so popular because of its multiplayer, people don't play halo day after day for the campaign because everyone that's played the campaign knows that it in many ways isnt that great but the multiplayer is so FREAKIN AWESOME and never ever gets boring. so in my opinion this game deserves it's ratingSwan-Dive

Halo is overrated as hell, but still nothing compared to, say, Goldeneye. Seriously, whatwas with the Goldeneye hype? Ugh. Maybe it's because I was a PC gamer back then and messed around with the likes of Quakeworld (who's online gameplay makes even Gears look bad), but everyone getting their panties in a wad over a crummy console shooter like Goldeneye just made me go wtf. The Halo hype was almost as bad, but not quite, since it's actually decent.

I'm a fan of Halo, and have Halo 3 on pre-order. Halo is the reason I bought my original XBox. With that said, I too feel Halo is over rated. Mainly because it gets hyped like its the greatest game of all time. I think like others have said that it was one of the better FPS on a console. I think when it came out the only console FPS I liked was Red Faction (why has "Geo-modding" not been in any new games?)

I could be biased though, because I felt Halo took to much attention from Half Life, a game I feel to be superior in every sense.

Saying halo is overrated is taboo around these parts, but I'll say it again. It's overrated. (UT Jr. ... in space) I don't think Bungie would still be around if everyone was handed a PC and a copy of Half-Life(or a game of that ilk)with their purchase of Halo the first....Staryoshi87

IMO, the original Halo is one of the best games on Xbox, and had an amazing single player mode. The multiplayer was great too if you could get enough people. I don't think the original halo is overrated at all.

Now Halo 2 is overrated, IMO. The single player really let me down, and while online was great for awile, it DOES get boring after so long.

Either way, Halo is still a great franchise and one of my favorite videogames. But I think it's a bit overrated.

Halo IS overrated, but that doesn't mean it isn't great. It's just not perfect.

I see it as being like Goldeneye. Is it innovative? No. Is it fun? Absolutely. One of the truly definitive multiplayer games... not because it's so groundbreaking, but because the dev team actually went out of their way to release a high-quality, FINISHED product... which can't be said, sadly, of many dev teams anymore (*cough* EPIC *cough*).

On the same topic, I think the main reason Halo-bashing has become such a favored pastime of our ilk (that being gamers, for those interested) is because of zealous fanboys that insist it is the Beatles of video games. It's not... nor is it the Stones. But you take a band like Guns N Roses which took all those old concepts and made them feel fresh again and you've got Halo.

I think it's over rated but that's just me. It's a good game but surly isn't the best shooter...STABW0UND
