I'm wanting to get the Orange Box. I know it has good reviews and all, but I need more. I need your own personal thoughts on the game. now, this isn't one of those "should I get it" threads. I already know I'm gonna get it. I just some of your thoughts on the game :D thanks in advance.

I've loved half life 1 forever and when I got my new computer...2 years ago... I bought half life2 right away. I dont know how to explain it but the game to me was simply fun and awesome. All of them are. episode 1 is eh ok...but episode 2 is really awesome. for 30 or so bucks its easily the best deal ever.

I guess I cant explain much, I just know that I found this type of fps very very fun... I like the fact that the main charachter (gordan freeman) doesnt talk at all...he is so mysterious.

As for Portal, just plain puzzle fun with some witty humor thrown in.

Team fortress is pretty fun but didnt really get into it.

i bought the orange box at the beginning of this year. i loved it, and still do.

the half life series are just simply amazing. some of the best story telling you'll ever see in a video game, IMO. so you get the full game of half life 2, plus episodes 1 and 2. just simply amazing.

next is portal, i wasn't expecting much with this, just a fun little puzzle game, but yet again valve makes an interesting story for this one. it leaves you wondering what happens next, possibly opening the door for another, i've heard rumors that portal has something to do with half life 2: episode 3. could be cool.

then you have team fortress 2. great multiplayer. a lot different than run and gun CoD, or shoot melee shoot Halo 3. just a basic FPS where everyone on the team plays an important role do to the class based play. great for teamwork and probably the only way it should be played is with teamwork. the connection though is a lot like the original gears where some one hosts a game and you have to join, or you host one and wait for others, no matchmaking with this one. the community isn't all that amazing in terms of population because most of the people who play are on pc. But, i didn't have too hard of a time playing it whenever i wanted. a lot of fun.

if you like achievements it has some pretty good ones. i myself love achievements, and the orange box has a really good list of ones to get. some basic ones then some harder ones. there's only a few that i think are dumb, so for the most part they'll have you coming back for more, if that's what you're into.

i bought the game for $60 and i thought it was well worth it. valve is an amazing company and i think they will be here for a long time. i'm not sure of the price now, but know that whatever it is, it's well worth it. i think everyone should try it out. it's a bit underated for consoles, considering it all originated on the PC, so a lot of people might tell you it's crap, but don't listen to them because they are the typical console fanboy who only care about graphics and their KDR. just because it's not halo or call of duty doesn't mean it's not any good. IMO these games are better than halo and cod combined. it's just an amazing experience.

i think i've wrote enough about it, so just buy it and see it all for yourself. you won't be disappointed.

hope this helped.

Half-Life 2 is the single greatest FPS ever. That's all you need to know going into Orange Box.

Quick breakdown: HL2 - crazy long for an FPS, great game Ep1 - Ehhhh, not that great Ep2 - Amazing, blast from start to finish Portal - Best game of the pack. If you can get Gold on all the challenges I'll give you a cookie. TF2 - Never played it but heard it was good. Have fun.
