Nice find! I love how GS hides their stuff until the next evening when they put it up on the front page. I remember stumbling on the Madden 10 review a few days ago and doing a double-take.
Could have being 9 :P, anyway, can wait to buy it magicalclickI know right. The reviewer didn't really have any real issues with the game so I don't know why. I guess GameSpot always want to be out of the box since many sites already rated this game a 9.0 game.
After reading the review, I think they should have gave it a 9.0 but that's GameSpot, tough on every game, and I'm glad they're like that. IGN gives everything they get early such high reviews like 9-9.5 while gamespot will give the gave 7.5 to 8.5. Either way,it turned out better than fat princess, andthis game looks excellent and I'm buying it as soon as is on the marketplace.
I agree with the positive points he made, but not so much with the negatives. The only time my "laser sight refuses to reach into the background" was because some obstacle was blocking the way, which would make sense to have to change your position. And while you often do have to retrace your steps and find your way from one part of the map to another, I found that a lot of times when you have to do that you usually have a new upgrade which allows you to handle situations differently.
Pretty good review though, I thought he would have given it a 9.
Who cares if it's an 8.5 or a 9? Will it help you sleep better at night? It's just a number. Doomtime
People care because in recent years it's become abundant clear that if a game gets a 9-9.5 from most other sites it'll get an 8-8.5 at Gamespot. That being said, if a game gets an 8-8.5 on most other sites it often gets a 9.0+ at Gamespot. Gamespot used to be my favorite gaing site, was for years, but it's almost become useless as of late.
I have it downloaded and ready to play. Looks cool, hope this brings back a wave of classic games like this, just like Braid was supposed to do. *sigh*.

At the end of the day, it's still just a numberThis site makes money and based on it's "numbers". Gamespot used to be one of the biggest gaming sites out there. It's credibility took a massive dive last year and now it's "numbers" really have little credidbility. Maybe is Shadow Complex had posted a full page add on the main page it would have gotten a 9.5

So you're saying just because there's a full page ad, it will boost the score. Sure that may have been the case with Gerstmann, but there have been full banner ads of games that have still scored terribly. MLB 2k9 had that banner up for 2 weeks and got a 4.5. It was terrible. But if a company wants you to advertise their game and they are going to pay you well for it, why would you turn them down? There are people that hang on the balance of scores and it's a little ridiculous. Just take reviews with a grain of salt and see for yourself.[QUOTE="Doomtime"]Who cares if it's an 8.5 or a 9? So you think that Gamespot has some 'we HAVE to post a different score than everybody else' policy?
Has anybody ever just thought that maybe they score the game based on their OWN opinion? People will use a score here or there that they disagree with to 'prove' that they're biased or whatever, but the VERY large majority of scores they give seem to be inline with other major reviewers and also with my own opinion.
I think people are just a little too 'on-edge' when it comes to that damn number. Everything's a conspiracy, or the reviewer is biased against a certain genre, or the reviewer doesn't know what they're talking about, or they haven't played it enough, or they lack credibility or SOMETHING. Its never just that they had a slightly different opinion than you.
I have been playing the game since I downloaded it this lunch time in the UK (and now it's 17:20) and i have just decided to take a break. While I think giving it a 8.5 was a tiny bit harsh however I personally if this was released as a full price game I would have been very very tempted to buy it.

Gamespot does lack credibility. You fire someone for giving a game a bad review because the Publisher through a lot of money at you and you lose all credibility. Also, Gamespot now often doesn't review most titles at all, and even the ones they do review the review often comes up many days after the game has been released. Maybe you're new to here, but I've been a Gamespot follower for many years and it's pretty easy to see the site is in decline.
This sounds great. Does anyone know how long the game is?sammyjenkis898Jeff Gerstman said it took him about 6 hours on the first playthrough but he went back four times to find all the items, get achievements, etc. Challenge rooms also provide a good amount of fun. Every reviewer has said they've gone back again and again.
