Uh no. Sorry but I just don't think so. Mass Effect is the best RPG I have played in a long long time. And plus think about what Jeff would say.

Anime is for jerks. That AUTOMATICALLY makes Mass Effect > Shin Megami Tensei.

I will forever hate Kevin VanOrd for the half-ass review he did. Seriously wtf.

Sorry if I'm being a bit rash, it's just my opinion though.

Mass Effect deserved the Best RPG of the Year Award. Hands down.

that, and if you remember basic math, he just said Shin Megami Tensai is greater than Mass Effect.

Yes you're being rash and I like anime, but I'd say Mass Effect too. I feel that out of the big games of 2007, Mass Effect is the most "underrated" (lol, but you know what I mean). Maybe it's just me, but I can easily go over bugs and rough edges and without that Mass Effect is so close to perfect, it's just crazy.

Edit: Actually, maybe I shouldn't talk I played so little of Shin Megami Tensei: Persona.

Haha. Don't get me wrong man, I'm an anime freak just like the rest of em. But seroiusly the only person who thought Shin Megami Tensei was great was Kevin VanOrd. Look at the average review from other sites and the average user review... compare that with Mass Effects...

Also considering Kevin reviewed both and gave both the same score... it really means that the award went to user preference with Kevin. The other numbers just don't add up that way.

I agree with the Mass Effect and Anime statements.

I'd take Persona 3 over the two.

This year's RPG Genre award is quite handy. It helpfully allows us to divide fans of rpgs into two categories. 1. The people who actually know **** about rpgs. 2. The people who need to remove their heads from their pieholes. With the amazing dearth of rpgs this year, there were two, count-em, two acceptable choices for RPG of the year. 1. Mass Effect 2. The Witcher I played Mass Effect, The Witcher and Persona 3 for over one hundred hours each. It is a very close call between the first two games I just mentioned. As for Persona 3, it falls into the middle ground between a "good" game and a "great" game.

These awards are opinions. I don't put enough stock in them to get worked up.
