I bought the Game of The Year edition of Oblivion recently and I've been playing on the Oblivion disc. I use the glitches quite a bit (mainly the arrow duplication, permanent effects, and Kavatch money glitches). I'm about to start Shivering Isles but I heard there's the huge bug that causes the game to crash after a certain period of time. I could download the update and patch from Xbox Live when I put in the SI disc but will that also update Oblivion and remove the glitches from that as well? Can someone who has updated for Shivering Isles tell me if they can still use these glitches?MrdeBlaquewhy even glitch? it really removes any sort of challenge from the game and thus makes it boring and pointless
if you started it up and it said an update is required to play, then thats the only update. Other than that, what else does Oblivion offer besides a bunch of caves, ruins, and small towns? To me Oblivion got old fast, even after the expansions. It was the same weapons and equipment over and over again. Once you got Daedric stuff, you pretty much have the best stuff. The new content was short and a waste of money. You got some weapons and equipment, like maybe 10-15 things; if that. The missions were easy as long as you had health or a conjuration. I thought the world of Oblivion was cool, but everything was so dam repetitive. It made me sick. So then I found a game called Fallout 3, the same type of game with a whole bunch of random, non repetitive places to go. The game even has 5 expansions! Thats more than the two in Oblivion, so I knew it was a bargain when it was GOTY and it still cost as much as a regular game. The missions are diverse, the world is expansive and realistic. There is not one thing that bothers me in this game. Where else do you get abducted by Aliens and blow off their heads?>Mothership expansion< The game itself is more difficult than Oblivion by a long shot. So my advice to you is throw out your old Oblivion and buy Fallout 3 GOTY. Much more weapons and stuff to do and its by Bethesda. Oblivion is old and crappy, mainly because it was a launch title, so wait for Elder Scrolls V if you want a good continuation of the series. Fallout 3 is a great replacement for your Oblivion troubles.
Oh and you cant glitch if you Update it. I know because I used to do it on my first run through.
Fallout rocks. But ontopic you dont have to scavenge for gold you get gold automaticly when questing and dungeon-ing.
And if its too hard put the difficulty down than you dont have to glitch and still enjoy the game :)
I already knew that. My question is if I put the Shivering Isles disc in and download the update from Xbox Live to stop the Shivering Isles bug, will the that update also remove the glitches from Oblivion?MrdeBlaqueI don't understand the question. If you have the GOTY edition already nothing should update when signed on since it's the latest version.

One would think that would be the case but when I put the Oblivion disc in it still asks me if I want to download the update.

Why even respond with such arrogant nonsense? Not everybody will feel the same as you do about 'glitches' or 'cheat codes' or whatever. For some, those are fun. The only time it should be frowned upon is when there's a competitive multiplayer aspect to a game that is directly affected by this 'cheating'. Other than that, people should be allowed to play how they want. Its their game and if nobody else is bothered, then who the hell cares?
Geez.
If I remember correctly one can't delete the downloads for one game without deleting the updates one has downloaded for every game other game. If this is indeed the case and then I would have to spend hours re-downloading the updates for each individual game in the event that the SI update removed the Oblivion glitches. So you can understand my hesitation. As far as I know you can delete all the updates you download for a game, so why not give it a try?

THANK YOU!!If you install the shivering isles disc the glitches are all eliminated except for the scroll duplication glitch, if you want to use the money glitch you have to unpatch the game in which case you can't play shivering isles.
All I did was unpatch the game do the money glitch till I had 1 million plus gold then install and patch shivering isles. :)

But you do need it in order to stay online while playing, you can refuse and it signs you out of Xbox live, however if you don't care to be on Xbox live you can refuse and just play the unpatched version.

No, I put the disc in while not signed into Xbox Live and it asked me to install the update. It would seem the update is on the SI disc itself. Please Log In to post.
