Has anyone else noticed any Xbox 360 shortages in their area? I saw them in stores all through the holidays, and today went to buy one... after going to 13 stores in two cities I came home empty handed. Ended up ordering one on Amazon, but I don't understand why there would suddenly be a shortage over a month after Christmas? Is M$ staging a shortage to create demand in order to compete with the Wii or something?decepticondevil
How does creating a shortage increase demand? That only works during christmas when there is hype building potential. No point in making an intentional shortage now. Also, check the NPD numbers, the 360 sold almost as many wiis this christmas
I see places around my area bursting with Xbox 360's of every type as well as Playstation 3's of every type.
The Wii is a different story though.

I know. I was kidding.
I did see one arcade at one store, but that was it. I was wondering if they might be doing an upgrade or something myself... the gamestop website has them listed as being back-ordered. Now that I got one they'll probably offer a better deal, or have one with better parts that doesn't break down.

I actually did notice it at several Gamestops. Everywhere else seems to be instock however, so I think Gamestop is just really trying to focus more on selling used 360s. They may even be telling their employees to lie to customers to try to sell them a used system. They are known for their underhanded tactics. As far as a M$ conspiracy.....maybe.....but that would open the door for more PS3 sales and they wouldn't want that.

I considered that possibility myself, but I went into 4 gamestops, and not one of them offered me a used one. All four just said "We have no Xbox 360s at all"... dunno if that includes used ones or not.
I don't know about the elites, but I think I found out why there was a shortage of Pro's. I checked Wal Mart while I was in there tonight and they did have them now, but M$ just discontinued the "Holiday Bundle" that came with Forza 2 and Marvel Ultimate Alliance.
I'm guessing they were probably just selling out all the bundles before they shipped out the new ones, so I'm glad I did order on Amazon and got the two games for the same price.
