Not buying over ebay, most likely buying from EBgames.
Anyone have any tips on what to look for? Case Color? Model Numbers ?
Any help would be great
Thanks in advance

My sister's boyfriend bought a usedXbox 360. I think after a couple of months of playing it he got the RROD, and is now waiting to get it back from Microsoft. At the moment he's borrowing my PS2. I just recently bought my own Xbox 360. I don't care what anyone says, the risk is there.
I spent about $390(with a 10% discount) on the system(new), a one year warranty, and a Play & Charge kit. If my Xbox 360 breaks down I can trade it in for a brand new one. And if it every does, most likely I'll be receive a redesign Pro. Hopefully it doesn't happen period. If the warranty expires by then I have 2 years with Microsoft's warranty.
Yes. Many people do complain about the RROD. But it is in fact real. I can feel the heat escaping from my Xbox 360. I have a gaming rig, and my PC doesn't even produce that much heat within a few minutes. I'm not trying to scare you. Look at me; I went out and bought the system knowing of these faults.
Ok I say this assuming you live in an area that has this type of return polocey.
You could either buy the used then go to wal-mart for example and buy a new one...put used onee in box and return to wal-mart to get your money back...ta duh brand new 360 for used price.
I did this with the elite I purchased a couple weeks ago. I seen elite in pawn shop bought it up, didnt even use it. I went right to wal-mart with my rent money bought the Elite there. Went to lunch an hour later sat in my car and switched the systems and returnt to wal-mart. Said it was faulty and MS said I should be able to return it to store. Got cash back and got a brand new elite for $350 canadian in the end.
Maybe not honest but I like money and saving money.
Hope this helps ya out

back to the OP I probably wouldnt get one used. because you have to buy the system 200 then probably buy a hdd. Then a wireless controller (wired is so-last generation). That puts the total over buying a new one....plus new has that nice smell.
true... the risk is there with a new or used 360, but like any machine there is gonna be a risk of some sort  No excuse for faulty gear, but since it hasn't happend to me and I love my 360, its a worth while investment.
Something to look for when checking the used 360 is the back area where you plug up av cords there is a bar code. Above that is a a few lines of numbers, the top one is the manufacuture date, pretty much telling you when it was made. If the year says 2005, caution :?Back when people were tryin to figure out what 360's were more capable of crappin out, supposely systems from the first batchof 05' were toruble... as you see andhear from so many others... it seems that any 360 could choke so make sure to get a warranty or something just to play it safe, new or used
I bought a used premium360 from a shop called Choicesin June 2007. it had a manufacturers date of february 2007 - so it was fairly new.
The shop i bought it from gave me a 6 month warranty on it - a week later microsoft announced that they ahd extended the RROD warranty to 3 years!!!!!
So, when my 6 month warranty runs out around chrimbo 07, if i get the RROD after my 6 month warrantywill i be able to return it to microsoft, no questions asked?? - or am i screwed because im not the original owner????
Also, could someone please describe the procedure for returning a RROD 360 to microsoft?
thankyou
climo
