Hey guys, I'm moving away to live on campus in September, and I was wondering if it's a good idea to bring my 360. I wouldn't bring my TV, and just use my monitor. I'm sure a bunch of you go to college/university. How big of a distraction is it for you guys? I know I'm going to kill myself once the hockey season starts and I won't be able to play NHL 10, and that game in itself won't be a big problem, cause I can put it down any time, but it's games like Assassin's Creed 2 and all the new releases that I worry that I'm gonna wanna play at like 4:00am on a Tuesday. It won't take away from my party/girl time, either. I'm just worried about actually studying. I BS'ed my way to getting straight A's in Highschool ( I did NOT deserve those, trust me, haha). But I really doubt I can play those cards anymore, and now I want to actually learn. Thanks for the tips!

It all depends on how much self-discipline you have. If you've found yourself playing video games when you should have been doing homework or studying, then you should probably leave it at home. If you don't see that as a problem, then go ahead and bring it. I had video games in my apartment all through college and still graduated with a 3.9.

I am currently in college and play my 360 a lot. My grades haven't suffered, and I have a job at the mall as well.

If you cant stop playing when you have a big research paper to write, then you might consider not having it.

Yeah, that's true. If it turns into a problem, I can give it to a friend for a bit until I'm done those papers.

Your desire to play games will probably decrease anyway, so you might as well take it for those times where you just need to celebrate after passing a really tough test. Besides, you might want to play some multiplayer games with new friends that you make.

I think if you have enough sense to post this topic, then I would bet you can handle a 360 in your dorm room. You probably wont play it all that much, with all the excitement of college.

You actually have more spare time in college then you do in High School because depending on how you load your schedule you may have less class time then you did in HS. I assume because you call it University that you don't live in the US, well in US HS the day is typically like 8-3 well in college you will have a number of days where you have say a class at 8 and a class at 1 and thats it. Also you don't get as much busy work as you do in high school, cut out travel time if you live on campus and you actually end up with more time on your hands. So playing video games wont hurt anymore than it did in HS. Its actually a good distraction from those big research papers or all nighters studying for a test, you don't want to overdue it because you can burn yourself out quickly, so I would say take it.

Good stuff guys. And yeah, Sepewrath, I'm in Canada. I have 4 classes term 1, and 5 in the second. Pretty much 2 classes a day, and I'm done by lunch. So you're right, I'll have a ton of time. And yeah, I'll bring my 360. Here's my second, though... lol Should I bring my TV? (42" Sony Bravia), or should I use my 20" Samsung monitor?

There was a funny story, where this guy had his xbox stolen from his dorm, however the thief forgot one controller and the light was blinking trying to connect with the xbox turns out he was upstairs, yeah he got caught and the xbox was recover. So make sure you lock up and if possible keep it safe

Nah don't bring it. But that doesn't stop you from playing games at your friends dorm room with his 360 all day long while tossing throwing knives, that you bought from a Chinatown store, at a wall and then calling up Dorm maintenance to cover the holes that you created from said knives AND not get in trouble :D True story. What a day that was. ^_^

Like someone said earlier, if you have good self discipline you should bring it. Halo 3 came out my freshman year and me and my roommate played it a lot. I could control myself and give myself plenty of time to do homework, my roommate on the other hand, well that's a different story :P.

I'm not going to bring my 360. I think it will be too much of a distraction.

Yeah, you should bring it with you, whenever it becomes a problem just put it away/give temporarily to a friend till you get the work done. So enjoy!
