Should I buy a 250 GB Xbox 360 Slim even though I already have the old one?

I have the 20 GB launch 360 which is very loud when kept in a moderately closed off space, and I've heard the new ones are quieter. Aside from the much needed hard drive space, is it worth buying a new one even though my launch 360 works just fine?

If it means a moderately silent Alan Wake or Halo 3 playthrough then yes I will be a very happy panda...

Then go for it, I have the 360 S 250GB, and it's great, it's very quiet when running a game from the HDD, not exactly whisper quiet like the advertising claims, but, I'd say it's at least 50-75% quieter, depending on what you're doing.

Heck's yes, I did. Saves you some money on your energy bill too, it is way quieter. If you install your games to the HDD you can't even hear that it's on at all, amazing.

Yes. If you only have a 20 GB model you should probably upgrade.

I'm surprised that you were able to keep yours operational for so long. :o But if you do buy it, what will you be doing with the old one? If anything, given that it's already past any warranty (most likely), I'd consider doing some modification to it, such as replacing the stock fans for quieter, higher-flow models. Companies like Talismoon make stuff like that that could even directly replace the stock OEM ones that came in the machine (wiring and all). Might be another option should you decide to keep the 360. I'd also look at seeing if it's possible to replace the factory heatsink with a "revised" model, too. Just my food for thought for ya.

If you only have the 20GB model, I say go for it. I was forced to upgrade a few months ago because my launch 360 finally broke, and I'm fairly satisfied.

HOWEVER, don't expect it to be whisper quiet. Because it's not. At all.

Really? My Xbox 360 Slim Reach console doesn't make any noise at all. All my games are installed though, and it makes no noise at all. Seriously, it is completely quiet and i can't even tell the difference of it being on or off.

I just got my Slim 2 days ago and I've noticed a big a difference in it. My last xbox was a Pro Model with the 20GB harddrive and it felt sluggish. It may have been the harddrive cause I had been using the same harddrive since Xbox first came out. But now that I got the Slim 250GB and transfered my stuff over, everything feels a lot smoother. And to me, its as quit as advertised. (NOTE: I do have a color wheel going bad in my TV that makes a little hum noisee that could be canceling out the Slim's fans....and my Surround sound.)
