Should I buy a Xbox 360?

I am debating on whether to buy an Xbox 360. Can anyone here vouch for the Xbox heat/lockup issues being fixed with the newer systems? The last game system I bought was a Gamecube, so I've been wanting to buy a new system for awhile now. Everytime I pass buy a PS3 unit playing at Walmart or Best Buy, the graphics are locked up. That plus the high cost, I want to stay away from the PS3. So that leaves the Wii and Xbox360. The 360 has more games, especially for adults. The Wii has some cool games and controllers, but I found its to much like the Gamecube (not enough adult games). My last question, when is the next Xbox due out?

the new one isn't due till August (with the cooler chipset)...

just get one of the newer ones... I'm on my 3rd older one and they keep sending me refurbs. If I had the money I'd just go and buy an Elite.

If you're going to buy a 360 wait until the bundle with Forza Motorsport 2 and Marvel: Ultimate Alliance for $349, those Xbox 360s should have the new 65mm CPU.
