So to start, I already own a Playstation 3 (and no I'm not a fanboy so don't start) and I would LIKE to buy an Xbox 360, the Elite version to be more specific. What's Keeping me from running out to buy one right nowis the disc scratching issue. I've watched, read and heard about the disc scratching problems of the 360 from websites, forums, youtube and even close friends. Though most of them are from systems bought in late 2006 and early 2007. What I'd like to know is: Do the more recent systems (late 2007-present) have the same problem or not? If they happen to still have that problem, is there a way to prevent/fix it (without voiding the warranty)? I'd like to hear from those who've bought a 360 in the recent months. Also I'd like to hear the opinion/advice of anyone at all. Feel free to speak your mind (providing that you help me in some way with my problem :D). Thanks in advance for any and all support/answers to be provided.

My Xbox 360 is in horizontal position and my 1st games - Marvel: Ultimate Alliance & Forza 2 has not been scratched and they are now 5 months old.
Sir, Xbox 360 is a must have, it has the widest selection of high definition games.
Most of the people on the internet only post about problems they are having, when everything is working fine there isn't a need to post. My original (12/05) 360 still works great, not one single problem.

This is exactly the point ^__^'
Think about RRJ said - if there's no prob: busy gaming / if problem occurs: busy posting about the problem ^___^
If you are playing games and you move the console then yes this will happen, but otherwise your fine. i broke ridge racer 6 by doing that. just keep the console in the same place if theres a disk in it.
And my recomendation for your first game is oblivion =P
xbox has better games and is way better then ps3 so yeahkall5ter08Yeah it does currently. However did you hear how Microsoft HD DVD has failed. Blu-ray is the new disc format? Microsoft is asking Sony whether they can have it too? Have you noticed how PS3 came out a year after Xbox 360 and has a lot more games this year than 360. I am sad to say that Xbox 360 is running out of games but the PS3 will have it's year this year. 2006 - 2007 Xbox 360, 2007 - 2008 Wii 2007 - 2008 PS3.
definately get an xbox, i love mine. couldn't be without it now. it's a great machine. but mine did break the first night (it was on for just over 11 hours straight mind you) and has broke once since then, but so long as ur warranty isn't void, ur sweet.
speaking of warranties ... i bought myself some halo 3 xbox cover things faceplate and side stickers etc. and when i took my faceplate off the microsoft foil thing was half bubbled up and a shiny metal sticker thing near the disk drive seemed split half way down the middle. now, the microsoft sticker is upto the crease but the shiny metal sticker thing is only split to half way - so... will they still think the unit has been opened even tho the thin metal sticker hasn't been completely slit? with my xbox breaking twice before i am a little bit worried i will have to send it off again.
Definitely buy a 360, there is a lot of great software on the system that should be experienced by everyone. Disc scratching is not an issue in my opinion; I've never experienced it nor has anyone I know. A lot of the time discs are scratched due to inproper handling of the system.
I will not dismiss the fact that some 360s were reported as scratching discs (this has happened to other systems as well, let's not forget), however a lot of the time people bump, even move (god forbit) their console while a disc is in it, which can throw the alignment of the disc spindle off, causing it to ever-so-slightly be out of place and come in contact with internal pieces of the hardware. If the console is running while someone moves or bumps it with a disc spinning inside, expect the chance of disalignment to increase a lot more.
All in all, you don't have anything to worry about, and if you do, that is what warranties are for, and most retails are pretty good with them. Don't miss out on a great experience.
