Good, the longer the better. I'm always a fan of side quests and mindless exploration, hence my love of Bethesda games.AP3XoblivionDon't expect a lot of side quests. There are some in the game, but they are few . Mindless exploration and collectables...you will get a lot of that  (plus the collectables are marked on the map so all the better)

So judging from all this I'm definitely picking it up after work. Thanks everyone :)[QUOTE="AP3Xoblivion"]Good, the longer the better. Honestly......I'd wait and save yourself some money. I got insane edition on DoR and was very disappointed. Making maps is limited, you can no longer host your own lobbies to get yours and or your friends maps into circulation and the main multiplayer is broken imo. Takes ages to find games and when you do it isn't all that impressive. Campaign IS amazing, but can you justify spending that amount on a game just for a single player experience which will only last around 40hrs or so? (And yes I did all side quests etc before anybody starts hating on me)Rabanthalol, 40 hours is a pretty good length for any adventure game. Especially a FPS that has really smooth controls and graphics.
lol, 40 hours is a pretty good length for any adventure game. Especially a FPS that has really smooth controls and graphics. I'm not saying it's terrible, however. . . .Considering I bashed out about 100+ on FC2, and don't forget those 40 on FC3 include quite a few hours of poker and other mini games.......I'd say the story missions alone would amount to about 6 - 8hrs?? Which, if the multiplayer was good, wouldn't matter. But imo I think this is only worth buying for campaign but I would not shell out over £15 for it ($25? - Dunno where anybody is from)[QUOTE="Rabantha"]Honestly......I'd wait and save yourself some money. I would consider a 40 hour campaign that's amazing to more than justify the price of a game. However I've only played 12 hours of the campaign and it's so incredibly boring I can't be motivated to continue.

Yes yes and yes. I made almost 200 gameplay videos for my VGS youtube channel just for Far Cry 3. The game is immense and diverse. Where else can you jump a four wheeler off a cliff onto a tiger and skydive into a nice wingsuit parachute landing?

When does the diversity come in?
I wouldn't recommend it. It doesn't take long for the game to get overly repetitious and boring. There's not enough variety or depth for the game to support it's scope.

I kind of agree.
While the game gives you this huge world to mess around with, it's not very memorable in any way. On top of that, the side missions definitely get repetitive after awhile.
The story is interesting and it does have excellent characters, but everything else that surrounds the main storyline is rather bland and uninspired (Assassin's Creed towers=Far Cry 3 radio towers).

This sums it up.Of everything I played in 2013, Farcry 3 was my favorite game.
That being said, I don't completely disagree with everyone's comments. The game does get kind of stale half way through, especially once you travel to the second island in the game. I began to lose interest once I travelled to the second island, and haven't picked it back up yet.
I have gotten some enjoyment out of the co-op missions though, and they can take some time to complete. Playing with just myself and my roommate, we normally take at least 45 minutes to complete a co-op mission, and that's even playing on easy mode.
Another positive of owning the game is if you're an achievement hunter. I like to try to get 100% in every game I play, but that can be difficult when you get a game from Gamefly, especially when multiple achievements involve collectibles. I like to go back and earn achievements when I find the game fun again, and ownership is a big bonus there.
Overall I strongly recommend Farcry 3, and think it's a game everyone should play. However, I think it's completely reasonable and worthwhile to wait for a price drop. I just happened to get the game as a Christmas gift, so the price was irrelevant to me :)

Why? I don't think the game does anything noteworthy at all.
It doesn't do "anything" noteworthy? You may have not enjoyed the game or thought it was particularly innovative, but it does a number of things which I believe are noteworthy. It has great graphics, smooth controls, and an interesting enough story (much better than most FPS). It has the essentials of most modern open world games (quests, collectibles, etc.) and I believe it executes very well on all cylinders. I believe Farycry 3 is one of, if not the best, open world FPS I've ever played. The only games I consider to give it any competition are Borderlands 1 & 2. I believe a number of people would agree with me since it won GameSpot's People's Choice GOTY. Why do you feel it does nothing noteworthy? Please Log In to post.
