If you play games a lot don't get a Wii. You can do fine without online this-gen...I rarely play online and when I do most the time it's with my friends

Live is a big part of the whole thing, but it's not for everyone. The 360 is a great console online and offline.

The best 360 games so far are single-player only(Oblivion, BioShock), and the best shooters like Gears of War and Rainbow Six Vegas have Co-Op.So I don't think you must have XBL to stay entertained.

The 360 is still a great console without LIVE. You have a ton of games to choose from like Oblivion and sports games. Also the online aspects of games have begun to grow old as nothing has ever changed in them since GoldenEye on the 64.

I disagree with a lot of these posts. I think the online play is essential, games just get tired/easy when just playing them single player. Online can both add a new challenge to a game and extend the life of a game which you would usually just toss aside after you beat the campaign.

If you're looking for a more immersive and fun gaming experience, then getting Xbox live is a must. But that doesn't mean you can't have fun without it; trust me, games such as Bioshock and Oblivion prove just that. It would not hurt to try Xbox Live for a month and then decide whether or not it is for you. Overall, online or not, the 360 is a great choice for next-gen gaming.

If you consider yourself a serious gamer, then I would recommend against buying a Wii. In my opinion, the Wii is a recreation system with games that become redundant after X amount of playtime (exceptions: Metroid Prime 3, and Virtual Console games). But if you don't really care about that or the OK graphics, then maybe you should buy the Wii.

Just be sure to think about what you are really looking for in a console and its games.

BioShock and Oblivion alone are must have AAA titles and Oblivion will keep you going for a couple of months easy, if not more. Id say yes with a capital Y.

Quite frankly, LIVE offers a lot more. But it also depends how much time you have to play your xbox. Personally, I work all night, sleep all day, and only have about 2-3 hours a day to play xbox if I feel like it. So LIVE isn't for me, if you have a lot more free time and get bored rather easily then maybe you should invest in it.

with the kind of games that are coming out now the single player parts are getting really short. online makes the games last much longer. but personally i think now its better to go online

There are a lot of games that are great offline, like Oblivion and Bioshock.

You'll want at least online ACCESS in order to be able to download demos and updates for games you do play. So at least a silver membership is fine for that. :)

And I'm kinda in the same boat. I may have a gold membership now, but that was mostly because of a prepaid thing my brother got me in celebration of getting the 360. But truth be told, I haven't really had much fun with playing on xbl, and don't think I'll be renewing.
