I've always been interested in this game, but I never thought it warranted the $60 price tag. Now that it is $40 should I pick it up? What are your views on the game?

you should definatly get this game, it was the first 360 game i owned and its great, it has a good 6 hours of origional game, then theres overtime mode, then unlimited mode, and it has ALOT of replay value. Seriously, this is a great game, great graphics, great leveling system unlocking new moves, and increasing your attributes. alot of physcos to kill with a wide selection of weapons and 100s of zombies on screen pretty much at all times, great fun. (if u get the game, go to al fresca plaza n get the chainsaw, believe be you wont regret it)

I got it and had a lot of fun with it. Fun achievements and pretty good story. It's not a easy game though, and has a strange system where you can restart the game with your character from your previous game. It's incase you're finding the game to hard you can redo it with a higher level,

If you can get over the small things like that you'll enjoy the game a lot. In my top 3, 360 games.

Right. It's not an easy game by any means. There's a time limit. I got the game a few months ago used & I had a lot of fun with it. It took me longer than 6 hours to finish it though, since I don't usually have 6 hours to play a game straight through. I think I got the "C" ending the first time through. A very challenging game.

It;s funny, people can say a game like Lost planet is only 5 hours long, but it will take me a week to finish it because I only play games maybe an hour every evening, and I die a lot which doubles the time it takes to finish a game, I don't play on easy.

Dead rising took me over a week to finish, plenty long for me. I've got games likeFFXII and God of war 2 still unplayed because the thought of playing 25 hour and 50 hour games has put me off until I've got nothing else to play.

One of the best games to come out this "gen" on any platform, as far as I'm concerned.  Yes it has a few annoying bugs, yes the save system is totally frustrating, and yes there is no multiplayer.

But it is a damn good game.  Damn good!

I mainly got it because I am a George A. Romero Zombie Nut and this game seemed like a gift from heaven for me. But this game is still great even if you havent seen Dawn of the Dead. (They even have the disclaimer on the box saying this has nothing to do with dawn of the dead, which I found humerous.) Its just so much fun to run around the mall and use basicaly everything you can find to kill zombies.

Don't listen to the fanboys in system wars or anything this game is very good. Its one of the quality titles of the system and you'll play through this game atleast 20times if you want to see and do everything, its very fun.

IMO its worth the full $60 so for it being $40 its a steal. Its a great game all around and will last you a while especially if your into getting achievements.

The game has some frustration factor and a few head scratchers (why isn't there voice acting in game??  This isn't the DS)  But it is a blast.  Coming up with creative ways of killing zombies is the most fun.  The first time I used the auger I couldn't stop my maniacle(?) laughter!!!  But I cried when I tried killing the psychopaths in the courtyard...and cried even harder when they came back later in the game. :/  They game would be loads more fun if there was no time limit, and a save anyhwere feature.

It's a great game, but it's more worth a rent in my opinion.  I have gamefly and beat it pretty fast.  Probably less than a week.  It's a very original game though and if you are really interested in it go ahead and buy it.

I was referring to all the messages from the janitor.  It's been a while since I played, but I only remember the scripted sequences having voice acting.

Nah you can read the text, it was just made to be played on widescreens and not standards. But playing at high res helps a bunch.

Doesnt matter, you can always stand up in front of the TV to read the text, lol..

But yes it is true although its not like it takes the fun away from the game..

I can't recommend this game, despite my love of zombies.

The save system and time restraints suck the fun out of the game.  I hear that once you start leveling up, that this become much easier and more fun, but when starting out, it's tedious and frustrating.

And if you have a standard def TV, don't buy this game.  The text is absolutely unreadable.

Yeah, the first 20 levels you basically suck and making sure you level yourself up is a must. After you are about level 20 you can pretty much enjoy the majority of the game without having to worry about getting beaten extremely easy. Its truely a survival game when your low levels and does get frustrating. I remember cause i had to restart about 5 times in a row just to get things right and get use to the learn curve that this game throws at you. Whilst the time restraints suck it does add a nice edge to the gameplay, time management is key in this game and whilst at times you will have a tonne of spare time where you can seriously waste about 2hours doing nothing (Kill 50,000+ zombies achievement).

Many people have complaints about the save system but its a very basic system and very easy to use, i really don't see why people complain about it. I agree with your complaints to an extent but on the other hand it is a great game and even great games have flaws.

I would say that the game is worth picking up.  It's quite fun, but I detest the save system, very frustrating.  I know alot of people like it or don't mind it, IMHO, it sucks and nobody is gonna tell me different.

But other than that, its a very good game.:)

One of the most unique and satisfying games you could hope to get.  Hard?  Yes.  Frustrating?  Absolutely.  Is it a niche based game?? You bet your ass.  You will either love this game or hate it.  There is very little middle ground.  It has a ton more than 6 hours of game play.  This game is the first game ever to render over 1000 zombies on a screen at one time.  Its good enough for a sequal which is in the works.

i've gotta go against the crowd on this one, i've played about 35 games and dead rising is without a doubt my least favorite of them all. hated it from the start, and after trying to give it a chance i just hated it even more!  it's just my opinion though...

My opinion and mine only. I HATE this game. You go around taking pictures of zombies after you put a stupid ******* hat on their head. To save a game requires an act of christ and there is no depth to it. It seems the only people that like this game are the ones who fell in love with that movie......cant think of the name, like army of the dead or something. Or something where a bunch of zombies run rampant and the heroe has a shotgun and chainsaw? Its skipping my mind right now, but Im sure Ill remember later. But, if you like the game or are interested in it, buy it. Wish I could sell you mine, and I never return my games.  :(

No they don't, because it's rumor. In fact, I think people from Capcom have denied this on their official site. Hopefully they'll throw co-op into the sequel though.

Anyway, I definitely recommend this game. For $40, it's a good buy. $60 may have been a little much IMO -- just because it has the "replay value" issues that tend to befall single player games -- but $40 is a good deal. You might even be able to get it for less on eBay.
