I know, I know! This topic was done to death when both games were released but I am torn between the two! I only have 120 bucks to spend and 50 of it is going towards a year of Live Gold. So I was just wondering which game do you recommend I pick up? It's hard because I hear so many mixed reactions with both games; some people love Mass Effect while others think that the frame rate is horrible at times, the dialog system is very basic, and many of the planets are empty. Some love Assassins Creed while others think it is extremely repetitive. Your views please? I'm going to pick either one of them up in about an hour.

I have both and have played a little bit of both and am enjoying both of them..I haven't spent enough time in Creed to have it become repititve for me yet. Mass Effect has been a lot of fun so far, the dialog system is not basic, the choices are but the actual dialog/character interaction is as deep as you'd like to see in a RPG.

If you are looking for a more RPG style game with lots of exploration, dialog, a little bit of fighting, character management and stuff, then Mass Effect is the clear choice. Assassin's Creed will provide a lot more fighting than ME, and less of the other stuff..

I haven't played Mass Effect yet, but some of my friends have it. From thier opinions, it is a great game, that depending on how long you want to play, can be a very long and deep experience, one of my friends beat it in about fifteen hours, but basically went for the quick play, and left alot of things undone. Another has been playing it since launch, and is going into each different part of the game, has logged about fourty hours into it, and even called out of work one day just to play it. (He is also a recovering WoW player.)

I have Assassins Creed, and while I haven't actually beaten it yet (Stoopit CoD4) I am really enjoying the game, and the play of it. It does have some repetitive aspects, but if you like sneak and kill games, it is definately a good buy. (although one of my favorite aspects of the game is that you don't have to sneak, you can just go in, blades swinging and take out a bunch of doods. I recomend Assassins Creed.

I notice you said that you are getting live, you do know that neither of these games are online right? If you want a fun and extremely irritating online game, get CoD4.

Hope this helps.

Mass Effect=A great game! Amazing character customization, Nice dialouge system is anything but basic, making you feel involved, great graphics, great lip synching, terrific storyline, nice sidequests.....anything Im missing? Oh yeah, gameplay is....lacking. Not boring mind you, but just basic. The game attempts to add special powers to the shooting but that makes it even more drooling knowing you can wipe the floor with your opponent and you have the most incompotent teammates on the planet that suck at shooting aliens but are pissed off at walls. But theres still some fun in shooting the heck outta anyone breathing a little too hard.

Overall, I would give it a 9.0/10.0

Assasins Creed=Equally great game! Unique fighting system, best graphics to date, excellent lip synching, voices a bit dull though, nice twist, excellent storyline, nice method of game execution. Free running works like a charm, investigations, pick pocketing, and you can go EVERYWHERE!

This game has only one problem that can easily be remedied. Repetitveness only occurs if you are a hardcore gamer that just wants to beat the game for the glory. You can go the regular boring way, or you can do it with guards chasing you and a beggar or two flipping you off.

Overall, I would give assasins creed a 9.5/10.0

My choice for you:Would be to get Assasins Creed if you like the Tom Clancy Splinter Series mixed with the Prince of Persia stuff, and Mass Effect if you like Halo mixed with Oblivion

Yeah, I know they don't have Live. I already have a few Live enabled games that I play (mostly just Lost Planet, actually). But thanx for the input guys even though I'm still torn. I'm leaning a little more towards Mass Effect just for the length of it but Assassins Creeds emphasis on Free Running looks so kool...

Hmmmmm, now I'm leaning towards Assassins Creed because of the fact that you said you would recommend it even when your username is MassEffectivator which means you aren't bein bias. This is one of the hardest decisions I've had to make.

this topic has been done to death but simply put having beaten both games i can say creed is a good game but is more of a rental it has little to no replay value unless you like looking for 400 flags. mass effect i am mid way thru my second go around and have found many mission i did not play the first time. plus i am playing a different style so the story is unfolding a little differently. bottom line buy mass effect and rent creed

AC got repetitive for me before the third assination. Its very short (my brother got it on saterday and beat it on sunday) and the ending, while intersting, is lackluster.

I suggest Assassins creed :) the game is unbelievable. SO much to do and things to see.

It takes the words next gen and really explains what there supose to mean.

Either game, have fun.

I bought Assassin's Creed as soon as it came out and beat it in a week. The gameplay of AC is really fun and all the freerunning is cool. But the game actually feels kind of empty. What's the point of running around a huge city if you can't do anything outside of your missions? I believe that AC would have been much better if they had added some more customization options within the game like being able to buy weapons or attain better armors or outfits. Once I had beat it I left feeling a little disappointed and with the view of the game being 1-dimensional.

I traded it in for Mass Effect the next day.

While I havn't beaten Mass Effect yet the story is much more engaging and the game world is executed in a much greater detail. Mostly I would suggest Mass Effect simply for the amount of variability in gameplay and the options that you have in changing the story and roaming the galaxy.

i kept up with assassins creed since ubisoft announced the game. It didnt turn out to be all that it could have but it still redefined this gen. again it isnt what i or alot of people i know expected just due to the repetitive gameplay in certain areas. such as constantly having to climb high points to gain the position of you investigation units. ME i have only seen played not personally played but still have to say looks really good. as expected the dialogue and all are great, battle mechanics looked average though.

I am going to reply on the assumption that you are aware that these are two different genres of game, and that you like both genres, and are therefore asking for what is the better overall game. Mass Effect by a mile. If you are looking for more details on my opinion on Mass Effect, you can find them here. If you are looking for more details on my opinion of Assassin's Creed, please refer here.

Get Mass Effect!

I actually never played KOTOR or Jade Empire, neither of them really interested me that much. However, Mass Effect is one of the best RPG type games I have played in a LONG LONG time. It has moved the genre forward, especially in story telling and interaction with NPCs. It is a fantastic game and a must play. Absolutely Brilliant!

Assassin's Creed is a rental. You definitely need to play this game. The environments are wonderfully realized and feel extraodinarilly authentic. The animation is second to none and the story is decent. Sadly, thats where the game stops being good and falls on its face. The combat is great at first, but become boring a few hours into the game. The overall game play get old aswell. It's definitely something to see, but nothing to own. IMHO.

Assassins Creed of courselil_flint

NO!!! Like someone said earlier Assassins Creed is a RENTAL, you will finish it too quickly after having spent top dollar for the game... But it is a GREAT game, just RENT it...

All I've got to say about MASS EFFECT is that I've clocked 36+ hours on one campaign working through many and most of the side missions!!! MASS EFFECT is a game you want to add to your Game Library.

Both games will be trilogies...

Happy Gaming!!! :D

Both games are very cool, but I would get Mass Effect. It has replay value out the whazoo, I haven't had bad framerate issues, only minor texture pop-in which doesn't negatively affect the game in any manner.

dont buy assassins creed.. i did and i had to force myself to complete the last few missions.. and i never did.. so instead i took assassins creed and ninja gaiden sigma to gamestop and traded them in for mass effect.. last year it was elder scrolls oblivion as the top RPG.. id say its mass effect this year.. get mass effect.
