or play on Disc. Which one would run more optimal? I keep hearing installing is bad, and now Rockstar says installing GTA5 play disc is not recommended?

Hard drive would probably be better. Halo 3 and now GTA5 are the only ones I can think of that are not supposed to be installed. In both cases the games are using assets off both the disc and the hard drive (Halo 3 caches, though). It'll still run if you install the play disc for GTA5, but when the game tries to pull data off the 'disc' and off what you've installed from the other disc, they compete for drive access and things bog down a bit. Though now that I think about it I believe Dead or Alive Xtreme 2 might not work while installed, but maybe that was corrected. Everything else is fine as far as I know, with you getting a bonus to load times and on having a near silent console.

I have D3 installed and it's lightning fast, I usually am the first one to load in a team of 4. GTA5 is an exception with its play disc, 99% of games will run better (or the same) if installed to the HD.

After losing my copy of Fallout 3 thanks to an old 360 model who liked to scratch my disks beyond repair, I'm never ever playing a game on a MS console whithout installing it first.

Installing D3 will make your load times much faster. No reason not to install if you have the HDD space to do so.
