I'm not that much of a hardcore racing fan and I'm not really into cars that much. However it looks like it will be an awesome game. All of the customization stuff sounds really cool and the game just sees to have so much to it. So my question is this game suitable for people who like realistic racing games but who aren't already car junkies? Is there a steep learning curve? Also how much would I be missing out on if I didn't have the racing wheel and instead just used my controller

It will sure be worth the experience I hope. Using a controller won't be too big of a deal. You can still enjoy it.

You wont be missing out on much. Im not big on the whole racing wheel thing. Dont know if you drive, but I do (87 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am) and to me the whole racing wheel thing doesnt make it realistic anymore than the controller. Infact I dont think the wheels and yes I've tried the real good ones, dont feel real at all. First off on most if not all wheels are much smaller than real life steering wheels and I just dont get that sense of really driving the car out of them that your suppose to I guess. As for the game, I say its definately a must buy if your even remotely into cars. As for pre-ordering, I did.

I'm sure you will be able to pick it up on the store on the day of release its not that popular of a game where the stores will sell out of copys, so preording it really isnt necisarry

I never preorder anymore.  I have been shafted too many times.  You are better off just going to the store and buying the game.

Not if your not that bothered about it. I love racing games so I have got it pre-ordered, and would be really cheesed off if I couldn't get it day or release... I have been waiting since Feb.... But yeah, for you it wouldn't be a big thing to get it after release.

I have disabilities that have kept me off the "normal" timeline that most American teens go through when learning to drive.  (I'll be 17 tommorow and I don't even have a permit lol) So the othe incentive for getting this game is that I'll get an experience as close to driving an actual car as possible for the time being.  Thanks fo the feedback.

I'd definately say its the best driving simulator, so if that what your looking for than definately pick it up. As for not having a permit or license I drove from 16 till 18 with no permit or anything (Had my own car as no one would let me drive theirs). Then I drove from 18 till 20 with only a permit. Now I have my license. It took me so long to get it because I was already driving so I didnt relly have the motivation to get it.
