I just got Turtle Beach Earforce X11. I am excited to use them but wondering if the upgrade to the DX11 is worth the extra money? Anyone have experience on how well the surround sound in the headphones works compared to the regular stereo Turtle Beach headset.

I am wondering the same. What are people's thoughts on the X11s? Does it really make it easier to hear footsteps, and improve your gameplay experience? Or would I need to go with the X31s to actually have an improvement?

Originally I tried the turtle beach X11s and they were not bad but I returned them and upgraded to tritton ax720s since they are a simulated surround sound like 99% of the other headsets. I noticed a fairly large difference, it was easier to tell if something were behind or in front. With stereo in front or behind sounds EXACTLY the same.

The only headset you will find that is supposed to be closes to surround is tritton ax pros (their sound quality is lower than 720s though)

Even all of turtle beaches products including the X41s are just simulated surround sound with 2 speakers.

your best bet is to pick up a set from best buy and see for yourself and if you dont think so then just return them. But ever since I got my 720s i have been very happy so I am sure if you went with TB surround you will be happy as well.

I just picked up the Tritton ax720 myself and to say I'm impressed would be an understatement. The guy at the shop really talked these things up and they were on sale so I decided to try them over the Turtle Beach since I've already heard the x31's. The tricky part was getting them to work while still using HDMI for video since the Tritton hookups are fiber optic. Other than that I'm very well pleased with the sound and appearance of these cans.

i absolutely love my x1's. they are older now and wired but they sound fantastic. they have built in powered subs and it really shows up in games. i can exactly were people are when they are shooting or running around. i gotta say they make a huge difference in game play. the only reason i have the older wired ones still is i have a plasma and the wireless ones dont really work well with them. i tried the skull candies xbox headset but didnt really care for it. the sound quality wasnt there.

the skull candies have alot of nice features but when it comes down to the most important thing which is sound they just didnt compare. i do use the s-c bag for my x-1's though. i use the the s-c themselves for computer duty now which isnt very often. looking at the specs and reviews the x11 and x1 are fairly similar. the x11 do look abit better but im happy with the x1's.

I just got the Sharkoon X-Tatic SX they got a 5 star review on amazon.. I haven't gotten to try them out though they won't get here until wednesday. I just don't have the money to shell out on these higher end models, and I kinda feel like they are head phones and $150-$200 Is a lot of money for them. But we will see how it goes with them.. I can't wait to try them out. Even though they are stereo they guy who did a video review said you can hear the directional sounds similar to surround sound. We will see on wednesday I suppose. :)

Yea i was doing this as well.

I had the PX21 with the DSS but after about 6 months i just didn't desire to wear them unless i was chatting. I was also tired of the massive cord getting tangled up. Well eventually it broke and i sent it back for repairs. Luckily they sent me an entire new headset as replacement. I quickly sold that headset and made back most of what i paid. I then just ordered a $40 microsoft wireless headset and ive been very happy with that. I just used the 5.1 system for sound and easily chat with the earpiece. Ill probably never go back to a headset again.
