Try them both, depends completely on your TV.

Interlaced & progressive. Progressive is considered to be "better" or optimal for displaying motion better. While interlaced uses less pixels per refresh or something like that. -K

i=interlaced p=progressive Altough progressive is better, 1080i has more horizontal lines that make still pictures look better. Just depends on how your tv handles the image.

I personally use 720p, you'll get a better quality with the fact that it's progressive so use 720p unless you can use 1080p then use that for whatever games support it.

Generic_Dude's Primer To Interlaced v. Progressive Scan:

0000000000
1111111111
0000000000
1111111111

Interlaced: Displays only 0s, then only 1s -- this alternates very quickly so that you don't see the gap.

Progressive: Displays 0s and 1s at the same time, resulting in a crisper picture.

EDIT: Try both and see which one looks better. It does depend on your television.

it may be just for my TV, but the difference between the two is so negligible that it really is a non-issue. When I switched between the two modes, I could see a slight change, but I couldn't tell if one was actually better than the other.

nonsense. you don't need HDMI for 1080P. don't speak if you have no clue what yu are talking about.

As stated before i for Interlaced and p for progressive. Interlaced means it only displays half the pixel at once, so 1080i has alot of pixel overall but only displays 540 at any given moment. Progressive displays all the pixels at once so 720p has less pixels overall but displays all of them giving it (atleast in the opinion of most gamers) a sharper image. I would try both (it what you think looks better) but suggest 720p you might not notice but it usually gives the better image.

TC: Why don't you tell us what kind of TV you have? Then we can tell you what the best setting is.
